Beautiful tank in a beautiful home. The sump is the size of the tank I want lol. Love the sculpture above the frag tank. I liked the inline heater. I know they are expensive but I don't know why this type of system is not used more in the hobby. It just makes sense. I do love the build but the one thing bothering me was the vortech pumps on the peninsula side. I know it's hard to have a good flow solution especially on a tank that long but it just draws your eye right to it. Love the video. Keep up the good work.

Wow, I should have said what an amazing job Mark did with this system. Just planning out something like this requires immense talent and skill. Bravo for that. I am more impressed with the fish room than the main display tank. (not talking about what is inside main display at this stage) Sorry, but after seeing all the wizardry of the fish room, I was like, that’s it? when I saw the main display. I am certainly not sneezing at it by any means, but there is some really nice larger display tanks that I’ve seen on YT. I think having the 10 foot wide tank like this makes maintenance a lot easier than having more of a vertical look, which imho, would have a more dramatic look than the big cabinets, top and bottom. But, ‘to each, his own’, as the saying goes. Good luck to the owner.

With all due respect for your passion about this wonderful hobby and the way you take care of the live beings so seriously just want to question not only you but all of us including me of how much concerned are we about the natural habitat of these fishes and corals. It's nature's gift that is the sea and the oceans which we are trying to replicate at our Home spending thousands and millions but do we even bother to think that their natural habitat, i.e the ocean and the seas are destroyed and depleted by humans (plastics) every year. How much have we done and contributed to preserve the natural habitat?? Only what we can do is spend and replicate a artificial habitat for these living beings and forget everything else and move on with our fast live. If you are so keen in this hobby and so rich I would appreciate if you could donate to the NGO's who are striving to save the waters of our planet. I hope you already do..

Sweet Marc, That is the same size of Tank my build is I am working on right now. Tank is built, just waiting on my canopy so I can start the plumbing and transferring everything over. My sumps are Royal Exclusiv Dreambox Sumps using 2 of them plumbed together. I am using Reeflo Pumps though for returns from basement. Also added 2x multi swirls from Eddie @aquarium Current. Using 150g refuge. I see you have it draining into Refuge first, My plan was with using bean animal style having full syphon drain going to my 110g sump and secondary drain going to 75g sump that are going to plumbed inline, then have emergency drain also run to big sump. Have my manifold off the return feed my refuge and it has 2 drains on it so each drain will run to each sump. What are your thoughts on this? Might also add my current 165g tank as a frag tank to the mix. Also I see that those could possibly be sea swirls as well?
@meiersreefs188
5 жыл бұрын
Also noticed you had the sea swirls sitting on wood or something and they were way up off the tank. Any reason for this?? Also how high are the radions mounted? Plan on mounting mine 22" off water line as I only have 6 radions right now, going to see how that works before I purchase more of them.
@KlimovArtem1

I got some Deja vu starting 9:00)) Why repeating all the 1st part again? Also, I wonder, for such big system, why would you still need so big sump, refugium, skimmer, etc? Unless you want to stock it heavily, wouldn't so big display be able to keep water stable and clean? I get it still needs some nutrient export, but would regular size sump right below it be not enough? (instead of dedicating the whole room for the sump...)
@mrsaltwatertank
5 жыл бұрын
It was a live broadcast so people who joined late missed the first part. Between the filter socks, the size of the skimmer and the media reactors, the current sump size is as small as it could be made. No one ever complains about having a big sump.

I am actively in a build not quite as impressive, but there are a lot of similarities. I also have two 210 gallon tanks for RO and salt mix, but they are tall (so i could fit them through the door hehe). I have a question about the pipe you have going from the salt to the QT tank. Did you do anything special with it? Is there any danger of cross contamination of nasties swimming up the piping and finding their way into the reservoir, where they could then get pumped to the DT?
@mrsaltwatertank
5 жыл бұрын
the line from the QT to the mixing tank is dry. Plus the critter would have to survive in a pipe with no circulation, or heat for months on end until the valve to the QT is opened again. Then it would have to swim past the flow of water to get past the valve to infect the mixing reservoir. Then it would have to survive a low salinity situation as the saltwater mixing tank isn't kept at reef tank salinity. In other words, not going to happen. :-D
