Having a dog or dogs helps. I'm almost 70 and have walked dogs for the past 20 years - an hour or more a day - two of my dogs lived to 16 1/2 so I know it helped them too. I'm in relatively good health and credit it to my walking.

I have schizoaffective disorder and eczema. I started walking again after nearly 2 years of quitting. I feel so amazing. I like to walk outside and have awareness of my surroundings and the people who walk by me. It really makes me feel human. Expressing sex appeal is another shunned topic that walking helps with. Walking in nature is amazing in general. So happy to see a video about this.

If going for a walk sounds boring to you, incorporate it into a chore. For example, if you have a grocery store a few miles away, and the neighborhood you live in is decent, and all you need is non-perishable items, then strap on a backpack and walk there. By doing so not only do you get needed exercise, but also you're accomplishing something while at it.

Walk in a beautiful rural area if you can, so your surroundings are a balm. Vary your routes as well. All this stops walking being boring. I indulge myself with a pint in a country pub at the end of my efforts too, so I have a reward in sight that keeps me going! (I do longer walks two or three times a week, so this doesn't mean I'm drinking every day.)

I've been a walker for twenty-five years or more. I'm sixty-six. I don't do it thirty mins a day, however, but three hours at a time two or three times a week. A three-hour walk, up hill and down dale, certainly takes it out of you ( I can't do it two consecutive days!) but it's a good feeling! I think I get more satisfaction and sense of achievement out of this than doing a short daily walk, so it's a good motivating factor.

My husband complained when we were dating, because we walked so much...I always loved to walk. One day my dad took us to a nature area where there was swimming, and trails etc, and decided to find it. I was about 10 yrs old. I remembered the streets he took, and started my journey. The area was another town , which was a few miles. I found it. My ancestors must have been explorers, lol...but I also remember my dad loved to take us on a Sunday drive, and he loved to get lost, and find his way back. I learned to dislike Sunday drives, and I don't like to be lost when I am alone. When I am with a friend, it doesn't matter. I do love challenges though, just not those that feel insurmountable.

Some years ago i developed trigger finger, (both hands) then last year 2020 i developed BellsPalsy,(right side) which as of now i am still recovering, and Just recently after starting to walk on my treadmill, developed Tarsal Tunnel in my left ankle. I am in reasonably good health, at 67 years old, I take only Thyroid meds in the last 3 years and Glaucoma drops about 5 years, until these i was almost never ill. That’s true, but 30 minutes is better than nothing. Also for some people starting at 30 minutes could lead to more hours. I walked 2 to 10 miles daily depending and what happening that day. I’m 76 in eight weeks, and do everything for myself daily. I enjoyed my walks daily I feel good always.

Mum my walked for over an hour everyday, but she now has no cartilage in both knees and no cartilage in both feet (had 1 knee replacement) but what’s the point when all cartilage is missing from feet. Now she can’t do anything and to top it all off, she puts up with the agonising pain because she isn’t allowed pain killers because of her bad kidneys.
