This is another video in my series “Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit the delightful villages of Amport & Quarley (located a few miles to the West of Andover).
My 5 mile circular route starts & finishes in Amport. After parking my car at the village green & exploring the Amport Fen Nature Reserve, I head North by the banks of the Pillhill Brook. Shortly after a pretty lake, I start heading West across Hay Down past fields of glorious yellow oil seed rape.
At London Lodge, I walk downhill along a dead straight track through open fields where I get glimpses of the Thruxton Motor Racing circuit to the North and views of an Iron Age Hill Fort to the West.
At Quarley, I get to see a wonderful little church with it's 3 bells housed under their own roof outside of the main building itself. My route then takes me Eastwards initially along a narrow track lined with thatched houses and then on to paths to the side of open fields. There is a magical display of bluebells in Upper Amport Wood and the fields opposite Lower Amport Wood are full of Hares enjoying the Spring sunshine.
I pass by the historic Amport House before returning to the village via a quick look at the church.
At the end of the video I have included some film footage of my new Whippet puppy (“Fiver”) who I expect will join Logan & myself as a guest on walks in the future!
