This is another video in my series “ Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit the villages of Wherwell & Goodworth Clatford which are located a few miles to the South of Andover in North Hampshire.
I parked my car at a free car park by the church in Wherwell and initially made my way through the village to start my walk by the River Test. My route then took me over the old disused Fullerton to Hurstbourne Railway line , Northwards towards the village of Goodworth Clatford. This involved climbing up a ridge from where there were some stunning views to enjoy.
At Goodworth Clatford, I met up with the enchanting River Anton before exploring the village a little. I found the site of the old railway station that was on the “Sprat & Winkle” line - now long since gone.
After a look at the church, I continued North East through the Hampshire Golf Club course and on to the edge of Upping Copse - where there were more stunning views.
I continued on to the edge of Harewood Forest - once a Royal Hunting forest in days gone by - before joining the Test Way back to Wherwell.
It was a glorious sunny Autumnal day and there were some spectacular colours on the trees.
