Good for snow. Maybe show how to build a similar shelter that's good for rain as well?

You can spread the cinders from your fire, pile dirt and sleep on top of your cinders to stay toasty until sunrise. Make sure to put enough dirt down though or your blankets will catch fire 😂

Nice winter tomb you made there. 1) No ground insulation. 2) Heat from the fire has a hard time entering the tomb. 3) Too narrow to be able to release leg cramps, and they will come during the night in there. 4) No enough room to store/protect your gear. 5) Slide on snow/mud going in. 6) No protection from terrain/vegetation. 7) In clear view from a water source. Warm Winter Survival Shelter? NO Summertime stealth shelter? Maybe, except for 6) and 7).

1) Wrong. He was quite emphatic about filling the frame with dead leaves BEFORE putting the roof on. 2) Direct radiation reaches quite a way: remember that the inside of the shelter is fully insulated. 3) looks wider than my bed. 4) Onw hand axe... 5) Got leaves as an insulating bed on the bottom. 6) and 7) not relevant: there's no war on.

this would not keep you warm in the winter. a basic open camp fire like this is good for a lot of things but would not work for warming a shelter just sitting be side it like this. try and sleep in this thing 3 nights in a row then report back & let us know if you'd still call it a survival shelter :P keeping making videos and playing in the woods and stuff tho. I do like the shelter wall idea btw, a good use of stakes despite being hard to drive into the frozen winter earth.

But you are on the ground so your heat will still be sucked out . Energy goes from hot to cold. That's why you can not cool people in the summer by sitting around a big block of ice, but if you make contact it gets your heat from you.

- -------------------- Hello, You have done class work there. I also built a winter nature accommodation. As a support rod I took Indischesspringkraut and braided nettles interspersed. Through an inside & outside wall is created a cavity which I have filled with soil and foliage. As a warming I use two old cans to prevent a fire hazard. All have fun outside in nature! Environmental protection is home protection!

interesting. tough to get in and out and your laying on ice cold ground. Also if it rains your bumming. it would surely be leaking right theough. I would build it a ft higher, pad the ground with pine branches and make sure I had a waterproof roof. overlap bark.

i think he may have inadvertantly made it too short.i think a plastic sheet or tarp could help with water/rain but over the leaves to keep them dry.10 inches of snow would make it very well sealed up.i think maybe building the entrance as taller could be a help. keep the entrance clean and dry by fire would be good. and also should consider bigger shelter for some wood storage for the fire. minimal tools for sure, small saw or hatchet would get the job done.and one good wool blanket over pine boughs i think you would be fine if this one was just a bit taller, or taller entrance
@bradleycampbell5933

so a kit with axe, tarp and a big wool blanket and some food can keep you alive.next up would be addressing water source and /or boiling water ability. next up would be a flintstones car and a bow and arrow :)

Sorry buddy but you should not try to teach when it is clear you are only learning, try spending a night or 3 in your shelter to make sure it works before you claim it is a survival shelter. With the clothes you have on you would have hypothermia by morning in that shelter guarenteed!

Yeah you'll feel the warmth of the shelter when the leaves ignite there's no insulation on the bottom sucking your heat out of the body directly into the ground please do not give advice if you don't know how to save yourself you will get somebody hurt or dead please don't pretend to be an expert
