Join me on a creative journey as I prepare for the Moon & Myth Fantasy ball! In this video, I take you through the process of crafting a unique and stunning armor-inspired look. From a dazzling tulle petticoat to intricate chainmail and scale details, every step is an adventure. Watch as I experiment with jump rings, scales, and EVA foam to create a one-of-a-kind bodice. I use the Vipera Berus weaving technique for a belt, to add a touch of elegance, and I even discover a hidden gem at a thrift store for a fabulous cape. Follow along as I add hot glue details, spray paint magic, and bring it all together for a dazzling outfit. Despite a few hiccups, the result is a battle-ready Queen of the Moon look that would have stolen the show at the ball, except for the wardrobe malfunction I experienced on the way there 🫠

Hey, it's me. Hannah.
This weekend, I will be attending the Moon & Myth Fantasy ball hosted by my friends at Fête du Fae. I am beyond excited about this weekend, but I've been super busy with Katsucon and cosplay builds. And now I only have a few days left to put something together to wear to this ball. Now I have some ideas.
I love armor in fashion, and I haven't broken out the chain mail in a while, so I've been tooling around with some concepts for a sort of battle-ready Queen of the Moon type of look. I'm still workshopping what that actually means, but stay with me.
So I was gifted this sort of tulle petticoat in this light blue fabric with like this really interesting detail that kind of peeks out a little bit. And it has this long, beautiful train, and it's just giving me moon vibes. The girls that get it, get it. So I thought I would use this as my base and just kind of build from there.
I also ordered some blue and gray jump rings and scales to play around with some male armor type things to wear, or maybe some chain detail. At least. And I have some EVA foam that I thought I could use to make sort of a feminine breastplate or maybe some cauldrons.
I really wish I had more of a concrete vision for this, but I think we're just going to have to work it out together. We already have a skirt. So I think the next logical step would be to make a sort of bodice breastplate thing. So let's get to work on that.
Okay, so once that dries, I'm going to spray her down with some silvery moony spray paint and hope that it all comes out nicely. In the meantime, I'm going to focus on some more properly metallic details. I am thinking that some scale polygons would look nice as a detail on my shoulders.
Now I got two different types of scales. I can't decide which of the two scales I want to use. They are two different sizes, so it's not like I could really do like an alternating pattern line or anything like that.
The blue is really blue, and the silver is just not quite blue enough to go with the blue. Could I stack? Could I stack them like that? Let me see if I can make this work with my jump rings. We might. We might be onto something here. A few moments later. Yeah, I think that's going to work.
Okay. So we officially have some direction on our scale. Male Pattern design. I am going to take this and basically just continue to build out a triangle shape to a good width to cover my shoulders. Then once we get it to that width, we can see how long we can make it. We only have a finite amount of these scales. So we're just going to have to see what we can get away with. And... okay. So we have two baby Paul Ryan's. I think what I'm planning to do is just make a quick train to connect the Paul Ryan's in the front and the back so that they stay are more likely to stay on my body. And then I might also just add some extra chains, like, you know, maybe a little bit further down or on my arms just for a little extra flair.
This blue is definitely brighter compared to the skirt than I thought it was going to be. I thought I would come off a little more muted. It's giving superhero. So now I'm thinking I need to tie it together more with my outfit. And I think I'm going to do that by creating belts.
