Thanks very much for this demonstration. I don't recall ever seeing this 4-patch technique before. This will help me stash bust quicker.

By the way, I love your videos. You and I both think hard in which way to iron the seams to get them to nest 😂. I also like that you are a slower, careful sewer. Others have their machines going so stinking fast, it makes me nervous!

You could do a narrow border, add more 4-patches or single squares in a row and another narrow border, to make your quilt one more block all around or so? No need to decide until you are there. If you checked the size of each 4-patch unit, before sewing the 4-patches to each other, you would have easier piecing, and less fudging. Hey, we all learn as we go. I like the bags idea, if you did 16 patches next, you would have bigger units and less bags though. This would be a great leaders and enders bonus project, you could be using up your scraps as you do other projects. You could put together bigger and bigger 4 patches, until you have the 4 quarters of the whole top? Then add a row on the top and bottom if you want it longer. You've got me thinking here, thank-you. All the best.

I know this may be a long shot but where can I find this fabric that you used with the boxer figs wearing red eyeglasses? I have 2 boxers and would just love a little piece of this to incorporate into my quilt. TYIA.

@debbiesuecreates1671

I think it would be 2 1/4 inch cut. You basically are cutting it in half, not from the seam, but from the edge of the fabric.

Well, these are 4 inch squares that are cut in half, and then sewn together and cut in half again. So basically they would be 2 inch squares. The seams are 1/4 inch.

I got it on Amazon. I don’t know if they are the best. But it was a 2 pack. 1 wood and 1 plastic. And it was under $10.00, so that is what I am using now.

Looks like a common one sold as a wallpaper roller at Home Depot. I use the Lori Holt seam roller from the Fat Quarter Shop though, if you like it better. It’s beautiful, if you’re looking for an attractive piece to add to your space.
