Great video. I've already begun taking steps to improve my goals. i.e. I have worked on reducing sodas with more drinking of cold water I put in my refrigerator daily. Now I'm onto studying for the LSAT while allotting a block of time to focus on my daily legal work assignments. It's my goal to get accepted into one of two law schools I have in mind before September. Slow, steady, baby steps.

Haha, the good old carbs. I stopped buying them, it was hard at first when I got cravings, but it was too much work to drive to the store to fill the craving and eventually they went away. Now, I can stare at them with zero desires to consume any. Yes, blocking time is a highly effective habit. 🙂

@@turnaroundstory 👍 yes. Your advice doesn't overwhelm if you do it in increments or allot a block of time. You slowly build better habits while breaking old ones. I also rely on YT as a study tool. Slow and steady wins the race.

I am smiling with gratitude. My story is long, yet the least I can say is I was looking at diy videos earlier based on guidance and some how you came up, it was your travel video. I click because I am looking into solo travel. And now I just subscribed. Feeling so grateful, your advice is a blessing. Best wishes. 🙏🏼🕊️

Great tips. I like the idea of removing time. It seems counterproductive. However for some attaching time to things is actually demotivated. Plus time is relative. ❤

I can't do goals at least not ones that are measured as I feel like I am failing unless I have continuous progress and that's not how achieving goals works. I find systems work better for me, the measurement is simply if I am keeping to the system, if I can't then I need to change the system to that I can keep to. When I first tried to quit smoking I tried going cold turkey I lasted a day and the though of going three seemed impossible, then I tried cutting down over days and weeks and that worked for a bit but then I had a hard day and ruined my streak I felt I would have to start again reducing from the higher rate and would repeat this until I gave up. I tried for years with all my focus on stopping or reducing by a deadline. I changed to focus to building systems so I could smoke as much as I wanted but I also used patches to kill the nicotine craving, it also made smoking not that pleasant but hay I can smoke as much as I wan't to! I just don't really want to smoke. I felt bad not getting a smoke break in work and would be encouraged to smoke so I setup a system a timer at the end of the hour I would go outside for 5 minutes and go for a walk and chew gum and it would trick my brain. I kept building up these different systems with no goal of stopping smoking and no dead line. Every one was supportive at first but after months of what looked like no progressed they thought I was daft that I would never really quit. Just under a year after the change in mindset I had a realisation, not only had I not had a cigarette in three months but that I also had forgot about the patch for over a week, I knew I was free of them forever that was 10 years ago. I did the same thing with fitness lifted weights put on weight as a result of building muscle and felt bad. so much easier to just lift weights watch my caloric intake and in a few months not only have I lost the weight I wanted but I am also more toned and have better posture I have the health and fitness benefits I wanted and did I appease the scales in my bathroom? no idea and I don't care too.

Hi! Thank you for you feedback. First, congrats on quitting, that's wonderful. I hear you on the goals, but in actuality building systems aka lifestyle changes that are incorporated into our lives, was the message of this video. Quitting smoking was a goal, and you incorporated habits to help you do so. 🙂

Hey Norma. Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine what a divorce is like but I wish you all the best for this new chapter. Maybe don't think of what you want as goals, instead just sit and close your eyes and think about what you want your life to look like in 1 year and in 5 years. If you could be anywhere, and doing anything, regardless of how crazy or unrealistic you think it is now, what do you see? Those are your short-term, and long-term goals my dear. 🙂

I love your videos, I find them very helpful. I have a question as to how you can deal with the fear of failure. I'm not very good at being optimistic - I struggle with being pessimistic. I have such a nagging feeling that no matter what I do to achieve my goals, I won't be able to. Do you have any tips to deal with it? Thanks!

Hi Vanessa. Thank you so much for watching. Hmmm...that's a tricky one. I'm not an expert but I think that because I'm always reading books, or listening to something growth related, the positive words become the loudest in my head. I also do not have anyone negative around me. It sounds harsh but I remove myself from negative situations. If I'm at work and the conversation at the nurses station becomes negative I'll literally say I need to use the rest room and walk away. Additionally, I don't fear failure. You and I must fail, it's how you learn and grow. Instead of worrying about failure, I try to focus on how fast I can get back up. Also, I plan a lot. I'm constantly reading books, watching youtube videos, and taking notes about the things I'm pursuing. Learning from others who are successful at the things I want generally brings mini successes, which in turn builds confidence. Hope that helps 💛

Thank you so much for your great advice! I will make more of an effort to read or listen to positive and growth oriented resources. I believe that with time and practice they will indeed become the loudest voices in my head. I will also do my best to remove myself from negative people, I think that is very important. I will try and focus not so much on failure and outcomes, but on recovering quickly from setbacks and doing a lot more planning as well. I’ll of course keep watching here and taking a lot of notes! I’m hoping my confidence will build, and I think it will. 💛
