I just did this same job yesterday. I watched some videos just incase there might be something I forgot. One video showed me how to replace this without draining the entire tank. I am glad I watched it as the tank did not want to drain because of to much calcium build up. As long as nobody opens a faucet in the house it is very easy. Just like you did shout off the water to the tank, put a bucket under the drain and open it up. Some water will come out but then it will almost stop. There will be a vacuum in the take and you will be able to take off the valve and only loose about a half a cup of water. It was so easy I though some would have to go wrong but it did no, even though it was Fri. the 13th. The whole thing took about 30 min.

I'm an electrician so plumbing isn't my strong point, but I do find lots of similarities. Your video still helps out till today, thankyou again!

For this very reason is why I always install a water shut off on both the cold and the hot pipes. Having two water shut offs isolate the water heater from the rest of the house so you can still use water through out the house while doing maintenance on the water heater. It is helpful when you drain the sediments out of the heater once per year. Speaking of sediments, check the anode rod for deterioration every other year. This is one cause of sediments. If you wait too long to replace the anode rod, you might not be able to replace it and the water heater will soon fail. A build up of sediments is one cause of high temperature failure. Your water heater is slow to drain due to a build up of sediments and thus tripping the high limit sensor which makes the whole gas control valve fail.

My gas line connector(the adaptor between the gas hose and valve) was very tight due to pipe dope in the thread. I tried to unscrew it with force and broke the old gas valve where it connects to the water heater. Now I have to drill out the remainder of the connection. Don’t be like me and just go to Lowe’s and buy a new gas line connection to replace the one stick to the valve. Save yourself a big headache.

I see two problems with your heater installation. Your flex gas line if legal in your jurisdiction should connect to the top of a tee with a drip leg on the bottom of the tee and you flex line should not have a dip in it that goes below the gas inlet. Your water supply lines are also a problem. The flex connectors you use have plastic inside that stainless steal mesh. You should not have anything that will melt within 18" of the top of the tank and keep 6" away from the flue

Hello! Does that small box uses a type of batery? For the green or red light to flash or be on.
@CWfist
3 жыл бұрын
NO battery, It has an internal element (called Thermopile ) at the burner that catches the heat from the pilot flame and that heat generates a low voltage that feeds that light in the gas valve. Watch this video and it explains it well kzitem.info/news/bejne/kox_3Hmnj5SlZGk
