The thermal cutoff switch kept getting triggered. We used an air gun to blow away the dust bunnies in the area you showed. Now, the pilot stays lit. Thank you.

I didn't know there is a filter! It acts like it's not getting enough gas to the pilot light, and my water heater is inside an outside closet thing where dust gets in. It's been really windy this week, and we have very fine dust that's like talcum powder. Much of that is ash, because I live in a place prone to wildfires. It's a manufactured home, so the other problem is it's built with the cheapest components they could get. I've lived here 16 years, the house was new when I moved in. I've had to change all the faucets and water supply lines because they started leaking. It's always something! This makes sense. I can light it easy enough, but it just doesn't stay lit. I'm going to go try this. Wish me luck!

Thanks for this video, you saved me plenty of troubleshooting and trips to the store. Cleaned off the intake and the pilot light was good to go.

I messed around with mine all day. Hers what's worked for me.. turning off the power supply. Let burner heat up. Unplug it and do it over 4 time so the flame rod heats up enough. I have hot water now. Probably a temporary fix but will work for now
