The beautiful water lilies - syrupy dessert, Sotiroula made for us in the village of Kornos - Cyprus, together with Eliza, Maria and her children. The ingredients for the dough are a) 250 g rustic flour (light yellow, from durum wheat), b) 250 g plain flour "00" (strong flour, without yeast, suitable for cookies), c) 80 ml seed oil, d) 5 g vanilla, e) 5 g Ground mastic of Chios, g) about 2 g salt, i) about 300 ml water.
About 100 g of rustic flour was used to open the leaves.
For the syrup was used a) half a kilo of sugar, b) half a litre of water, c) 1 cinnamon stick, d) a little lemon peel, e) 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, g) 1 teaspoon of honey.
About 1 litre of seed oil was used for frying. In the end, about 50 g of ground Aegina (Aleppo) peanuts were used over the water lilies. #MEchatzimike
