Join us onboard flying all the way to Land's End in Cornwall. Departing from Earls Colne in Essex we flew all the way to the most Westerly point of England's mainland at Land's End, landing at Land's End Airport in Cornwall.
The flight was 2h30mins, with a 10-20 kt tail wind throughout. We averaged a speed of 120.4 kts including take-off and landing phases. Take-off was on 06 at Earls Colne (EGSR), and we landed on 07 at Lands End (EGHC). Despite the hazy weather conditions on departure and throughout the flight the conditions were generally borderline CAVOK.
A basic service was called upon throughout the flight from various controllers and LARS radar service providers including; Farnborough North, Benson (MATZ Penetration), Boscombe Down, Yeovilton, Exeter, Newquay, and Culdrose. 'Pass your message' was delivered with varying levels of success!
G-BHZK is a 1978 Grumman (Gulfstream) AA-5B Tiger, based at Earls Colne. With a 180hp Lycoming engine, she'll cruise at a speed of 115 - 120 kts. She has 4 Seats, a standard 6-pack, a Garmin 430W and a Mode S transponder. She is fairly comparable to a Piper PA28.
