In this episode we get stranded in Bangkok but we don't mind because it's our favourite city in the world!
We wake up for our final couple of days in Bangkok. Each morning we leave our hotel, INNSiDE by Melia in Sukhumvit and head to the Lotus' mall for Thai Breakfast. We then catch the BTS to SIAM and stop and visit MBK mall for clothes. The then go to Sephora in the Asian Award Winning CentralWorld and visit Siam Paragon again. We spend some time watching the Songkran parades and then walk through the streets of Bangkok and get lost. It's quite a distance to walk between the malls but entirely worth it.
We arrive at the BIG C and Silom Road which are famous places for Songkran. They have amazing food markets and lots of Thai people visit these areas.
The following day we book a taxi to Amazing Siam Park, which is south east Asia's oldest theme park and waterpark near Bangkok airport. This is a great place to visit if you only have a short stay in Bangkok. It's affordable fun and definitely one of the top tourist attractions in Bangkok. It has roller coasters, flow pools, wave pools, log flumes, shooting range, water slides, buffets, massages and more.
What better way to spend a blazing hot day with the temperature in April being in the upper 30's. This was definitely one of our best pools in Thailand alongside Melia pool in Koh Samui.
In the evening we went to Bangkok World, which is a really beautiful night market within the theme park. With the amazing Thailand Sunset behind we decided to stay for dinner because it had an amazing food court which to us was one of the best we had seen. We ate a combination of Thai and Western food with a few beers and cool drinks.
We celebrated the final days of Songkran with families and children and then set about getting ready to fly home.
The following mooring we ate some witchery grubs and then caught a taxi from Sukhumvit 50 to Bangkok BKK airport. However, there were floods in Dubai and Emirates, after 12 hours of waiting, cancelled our flights, leaving us with no information, no hotels, no service, they closed the counters and we were stranded.
The following day I caught a cab to nana Plaza and went to the Emirates offices. They arranged us a flight in a couple of days via Air Austria. Which meant that we could stay in our hotel in Bangkok and then fly to Vienna and on to Heathrow Airport.
For us BANGKOK is our favourite city in the world and we decided instead of being sad we would make the most of the extra couple of days that we had in BANGKOK.
