In this video of Living the Jo life, we explore Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. We let a tuk tuk driver be in charge all day of where to go to experience Bangkok from a tuk tuk driver’s perspective. Our first stop was the Golden Buddha, which is located in the temple of Wat Traimit. The Golden Buddha is made of solid gold and weights 5500 kg. Next, we headed on a longtail boat tour on the Chao Phraya River and canals running through Bangkok to explore river life and take in the beautiful views of all the temples, churches, tall buildings, restaurants and cafes located along the river. We saw lots of catfish in the river, which seemed very excited about the bread we fed them. After the river tour, we went to the Grand Palace, which is a must-see destination in Bangkok. The Grand Palace complex consists of one temple after the other. It is an amazing experience taking in this historical site, which used to be the residence of former Thai kings. After visiting the Grand Palace, our tuk tuk driver took us to Mekhala Pier to feed more catfish, as he noticed that Ella really liked that. After having delicious red curries at a restaurant overlooking the river, we were taken to a tailor, where Ella got herself some new pants. Next, we headed to the Golden Mount Temple (Wat Saket) to enjoy some stunning views over Bangkok while the sun was setting. After sunset, our tuk tuk driver took us to the King Power MahaNakhon building, which stands at a height of 314 m and is the tallest building in Bangkok. The building features a rooftop observatory with spectacular 360-degree panoramic views over Bangkok and with a “Skywalk”, which is a platform with a glass floor, which allows you to look down upon other buildings, roads, and the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. The final stop of the night was the Asiatique, The Riverfront Market, which is a large-scale riverside market combining shopping, dining, activities and entertainment. It’s a very neat area with a great atmosphere. After a bit of shopping, we had a delicious Thai dinner, including PhadThai, stir-fried crab with chilli, basil and oyster sauce, and mango and sticky rice, at the Peppery Thai Bistro, before heading back to our hotel. It was a fun experience letting our tuk tuk driver be in charge of our full-day tour of Bangkok. Bangkok is an amazing city that should be on everyone’s bucket list.
