Since the dawn of time, MMOs tried to kill WoW. FF14 got the farthest by forcing change in WoW, but... yeah. WoW can't even kill itself, even if it has tried ALOT.

Runescape quests are a double edged sword, when your full caught up, new ones added are amazing you get to go in blind and figure out puzzles yourself and especially the grand master lvl ones can easily fill an entire day of gametime for alot of people (2-4 hours). The downside tho is that these amazing quests that feel like legit adventures are usually gated or locked behind doing 10-20 obnoxious and tedious quests that were designed 15+ years ago and j1mmy left out the part where most of these tedious quests can turn your 2-3 hour goal of unlocking the new content into doing 10+ hours of tedious running around doing what are effectively fetch quests just with 20 more steps to make them longer.

Disagree, i feel thats a symptom of playing OSRS with WoW mindset. OSRS, I can't speak on RS3, is not about the end game, the content is the quests and leveling for the most part. There are raids and end game bosses, if you want to focus that it takes roughly the same amount of time (200-300 hrs) as it takes in classic wow to reach max level if you aren't an Ironman (SSF) . Yes there are some BiS items and new spell books that require completing quest chains, but i don't see that as anything different than things like diamond flask, stopwatch, luffa etc. Unlike WoW there's not multiple hundreds of quests that are basically carbon copies with 70% being kill X creatures. You're not doing the same quests over and over, if you don't have a guide up you have to actually interact and learn about the game world. The average OSRS quest is much closer to the Linken and Defias Brotherhood quest chains than the average WoW quest, which are widely regarded as some the best quest chains in Classic. Also they will give you several levels of xp making them much faster than mindlessly grinding mobs in the world in the early to mid game. It's an MMORPG and the RPG aspect is you being a wandering adventurer helping improve the world, i think it only makes sense that a relatively small number of bosses and bis gear are gated behind being the RPG hero. OSRS is where it is today because it's not WoW and doesn't try to be and thats good imo. It's the Sandbox vs Theme park MMO debate thats raged on for decades now. Most people know what they like and will stick to their preferred style, but saying one style is strictly better or worse than another is just inherently wrong imo.

@@zackchud Cool alot of what you said is entirely your opinion and that's great! What I said is still a fact that a majority of players feel when playing osrs and rs3. The games best quests are gated behind quests that a majority of players that don't main osrs/rs3 would consider fetch quests and npc errand quests. Also you really gotta stop coping that quests in osrs are engaging before you hit master/grand master quests. They are quite literally no different then standard mmo quests they just have 10-15 minutes of filler. Your comparisons are also wild since none of the items in wow you listed are required to do content, but have fun playing osrs without something like ancient magic oh right some bosses require it and it turns 30 minutes tasks into 5-10 minute ones. Just to speak on the they give you multiple lvls of xp thing, that means nothing when lvl 92/99 is literally half way to max, those 30 lvls you just skipped because you did waterfall quest is like 2% of the total xp you will need that instead of obtaining through questing you obtain through clicking a monster that cant hurt you for 200 hours because you have protection prayers up so much more engaging then having repeated quests im sure! My entire point is that no matter how you look at it osrs has the same generic quests that must be completed before you can do the actual high quality quests that provide engaging gameplay in the form of puzzles and combat.

WoW Tokens are not money for the devs. Those are a transaction between players.

@@Patroiten How do people not know this? A poor player that has no money from a developing country can grind gold, buy a token from the auction (put there by a rich player) and turn the token into a subscription. On the other end, the rich player donates the subscription to the poor player for that gold. No new gold is generated, only exchanged, thus there is no inflation, like in games where you can actually buy gold from thin air. I bought many store mounts and Diablo 4 by turning WoW gold into Bnet credit. I love playing the Auction House, so got a lot of gold.

@@AkiRa22084 you pay $20 for the token. A sub costs $15. there is $5 profit, more if it is a nation where the sub price works out to less than $15 USD. And it doesn't have to be a developing country, I am in the US and on a fixed income, I played off tokens during Shadowlands when it was easier to grind gold and tokens were a little cheaper. You could do your daily emissary quests and make enough to pay for your sub. Plenty of people also grind out money by being AH goblins. Saving money is saving money. But Blizz still makes $5 every token purchased.

WoW tokens aren't created in the game though, they are only consumed. In order for a WoW Token to exist, SOMEONE has to buy it. It may then go on to be traded or transferred many times or consumed for bnet credit or subscription time, but it needed to be purchased by SOMEONE in order to exist. And there is a price difference between how much you cash it out for and how much it costs to buy, so even if you cash it out instead of using it for subscription Blizzard still is net positive from the initial sale, barring some crazy international pricing currency transfer shenanigans.

@@AkiRa22084 are you trolling? A wow token costs 20 dollars usd to buy for gold and you can turn it in for $15 bnet credit or a $15/month sub. Where does that 5 dollar difference go if not to blizzard?
