As Americans, traveling to interior Mexico for the first time felt, well, scary. And as we prepared to board an overnight ferry from Baja to Sinaloa in our 1985 HJ75 Toyota Landcruiser Troopy, we were nervous. Regardless of how many travelers we'd met that said Mexico was generally safe, we struggled to push aside the internalized fears we had from the typical media coverage of Mexico in the US. But this was the next big step if we wanted to continue our Pan-American journey so we pushed our comfort zones and boarded the ship.

How did we get here?
We're Cody and Olivia, an American couple from Oregon, who found a love for 4x4 driving and camping after we purchased a 3rd gen Toyota 4Runner. After exploring much of the American west in our 4Runner, we found our dream overland rig, a 1985 HJ75 Toyota Landcruiser Troopy, in Bend, Oregon. We plunged head first into fixing up and building out the Troopy with a lot of misadventures along the way. Finally in 2022, we realized we had an opportunity to live our dream of full-time overland travel. We quit our jobs, sold our house and all of our belongings, and set out on the road trip of a lifetime following the Pan-American Highway south to Ushuaia, Argentina.
