I applied for financing for one of these bad boys and was denied. No worries though... I am saving to buy one outright. I have wanted an LSG for about 5 years and finally will buy one this year! Thank you for showing the entire process from unboxing to the cook! Great video!

I just stumbled upon your channel! 7 weeks!? That was super fast delivery. I have 2 LSG smokers and delivery was at least twice that long for each... I will say, it was worth it though... Love my LSG smokers! As for smoke flavor, I'm also running oak (because hickory is almost impossible to find in Delaware). Hickory (IMO) imparts more flavor. As a compromise, I add some hickory chunks or splits from Homedepot and that's an improvement (albeit pricey). Unfortunately, HD has pulled their smoking wood off the shelves for the season so even that option isn't easily available. If I find a source of hickory, I'll let you know.

Hey, welcome to the lone star family. The longer you have your pit the better your cooks are going to get. Since I have had my pit for a good 18 months, just wanted to give you a little advice. Use less wood when cooking. You’ll be able to open the vent up a little more to get your temps where you want them and that will give you a cleaner burning fire. Make sure you join the Lone Star Owners group on Facebook.

Congratulations on the new rig. You'll love smoking with the offset. I liked the challenge of getting the temp where I wanted it and keeping it there. Once you learn, it will be easy as pie. Congrats again and enjoy your new toy.

Congratulations on the New LSG I was going to ask you prior to today's video if you would consider a woodburner, this answers the question. I like the romance of the woodburner, but there's a lot more to them than charcoal or pellets. I basically been experimenting with Weber 22 and a lot of different accessories they have. I have interest in woodburner, I'm at toss up between lonestargrillz and Shirley Fab. What I like about the LSG is the top of fire box griddle and reverse sear grate. We will be looking forward to more content. I watched the roll out of new Smokefire and it didn't look pretty, I think your Rec Tec is on top of there game.

Congrats on the new grill! I just got my LSG 2 weeks ago and am really liking it. . .I'm over in your neck of the woods and was concerned with sourcing wood but I've been using local oak (pin oak now) and it's awesome. . . still getting a feel for this thing but I'm very impressed with the quality of these cookers. . . looking forward to vids of your cooks on it

. . . not pretending to be an expert - just curious: in how far do you assume results are getting better with chunk wood fire compared to pellets fire? Does it not only depend on which pellets are used and how air flow / heat is controlled? Thx. . .

Sweet! I miss my Lone Star Grillz. 😥 But unfortunately I now live in a condo here in Montana (I moved here from my beloved Texas) and they only allow electric grills, so I use a Traeger pellet grill with the amazing smoker tube! By the way, it's the first of February (2020) and it's currently 67°! Unheard of this time of the year! We are normally in the mid 20s and snowing, but since I'm currently smoking two (2) pork shoulders for tomorrow's Super Bowl, I'll take it!

I've used both a pellet grill (Traeger) and the Lone Star Grillz and there is a BIG difference. The pellets tend to not be 100% real wood (some come with fillers of Alder wood and other stuff). A real nice chunk of Post Oak or Hickory or Mesquite does create a different flavor. I love my Traeger and I do use a smoker tube for more smoke and that really helps imitate the real wood.

Nice grill ... to me stick burners are like fly fishing ... it’s harder and takes more skill to do the same job ... there is an art to it ... the end result is the same but the journey is not 🤙🏼
