In this vlog, Jonathan and Dan are travelling along the industrial South Wales coast. Our first stop is Moriah Calvinistic Methodist Chapel in Loughor, where Evan Roberts (1878-1951) ministered, the secular-press-appointed leader of the 1904 Revival. Our first of three special guests for this vlog is Kevin Adams, who was making his annual visit from the USA. Kevin grew up not far from Loughor, and released a film and book on the 1904 Revival in 2003 (The film is freely available on KZitem: • A Diary of Revival: 19... ). Jonathan was also assistant to Kevin at Ammanford Evangelical Church, before taking over as pastor when Kevin moved across the pond. We also meet Alun Ebenezer, who's uncle was Sam Jenkins (a close friend and associate of Evan Roberts). When he was a boy, Alun met Evan Roberts, and on the day of our visit he'd brought with him a wealth of rare photos and historical artefacts.
We then travel about 15 miles east to Sandfields Church in Port Talbot to talk about the 20th century in Wales. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981) ministered here from 1927 to 1938, and saw tremendous blessing from God on his work, with a local awakening breaking out in the community in the early 1930s. Jeremy Bailey, the current pastor, speaks about the ongoing work of the Evangelical Movement of Wales, formed in the wake of a spiritual breeze from heaven throughout Wales in 1948, and also shows us Lloyd-Jones' original minute book from his time there, which is very insightful and helpful. Jeremy is currently digitising it, so it can be made available to the wider world.
Apologies that people sound like they're underwater at times in this vlog. Jonathan's phone was on its last legs, but he buys a new one in time for the next vlog.
