@@maxineespinoza7022 his inability to handle that people talk about him (including; behind his back etc). That, is classic mental illness stuff. Your average person, is able to accept people saying things about them (including behind their backs). Because, they understand thats what human nature does. Those with very specific mental health issues, can't accept this fact. They fixate on it (and what they perceive others are saying) and that corrupts their minds. I mean, we can all suffer from being 'paranoid' about something. But, normally balanced people can exit that loop. While those with underlying issues, at best, repress it ..until it explodes out. Will's other issue: The sycophants he surrounds himself with (like much of Hollywood does). These 'yes men' tell Will everything 'he wants to hear'. HE, is never wrong. He, is always great. He, is changing the world, HE, is always the centre of the world. This lifestyle, only makes matters worse for those with mental issues. And these sycophants are getting paid ..so, they don't want to change anything. Perfectly corrupt enablers. Look at Prince, as an example of what happens when you surround yourself with these people. And note how people, who surround themselves with people like this, end up dying. Always, very alone. It is sad.

Don't be so quick to blame Will when our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms which operate on this earth. Perhaps we all should remove the blinders from our mind's eyes and consider the quite possible "skit" was never about protection of a woman. Instead perhaps it was just setting the stage for a false atmosphere of offense. There is a bigger agenda...created completely as a world issue distraction and a specified group tear-down in one stone -- while those behind the scenes hide their hand on the whole plot. __ What if he (and Chris) was/were someone else's puppet and sacrificial lamb and part of the overall agenda included smearing an entire race while creating a distraction from evil global agenda that's already started and increasing by the day? __ Also, Will's tears (which seem genuinely from a defeated spirit) perhaps could have come from him processing the aftermath due to coercion by "powers that be" who greatly influenced his participation in something that he was completely against doing and did not want to do, but for whatever reason and "potential orders" given to him behind the scenes, he had to play the role. __ One more thing...perhaps the wife's role was to make the facial expression to try to give credibility to the planned joke and the planned fake reaction by the husband to it. __ Thought to Ponder: There should be outrage for this very fake-looking poorly-executed anger by a man of this stature, and the orchestrated-looking slap which if it were legitimate would not have such a weak hesitation in delivery. Thus, it would not be far-fetched to come to a conclusion that the star of this possible charade was probably coerced to assist in the agenda to create an absurd distraction to take focus away from world issues being carried out to deceive us about the true origin of the evil plot on humanity that is going on with all those people of the highest power who are in kahoots and don't mind destroying reputations while destroying lives in various spheres of society and different aspects of life and livelihood -- health, business, individual reputation, integrity, spirituality, etc. It is also possible that the designated star of this charade did not want to do this because he is not that stupid and it did not fit his overall integrity of perceiving that it might not be appropriate to interrupt a major televised event. Plus, this designated star has enough sense not to get overly upset about a host who is a comedian taking random moments to joke -- which also seemed like part of the planned shenanigans. So it seems like potential industry "powers that be" behind the scenes may have held something over their heads and told them to "just follow orders" and participate in playing out an orchestrated narrative to once again perpetuate a stereotypical view that none of the Black people are civilized. It's the typical let's appear to praise a Black person then while they are at their highest moments of joyful achievement, intentionally tear them down (seemingly by their own hands) in the eyes of the public through apparently their own doing as part of the industry's evil agenda to tarnish the character of good Black men and women (or anyone going against them in any capacity) through the appearance of negative narratives aimed at character assassination. For example, despite all the numerous great and wonderful movies Denzel Washington did, they created a gritty immoral character for him to play and only then did they allow him to receive the highest Oscar for Best Actor. Meanwhile behind the scenes, the industry "powers that be" dangle the "risk" of their target Black puppet's career, future, or livelihood coming to a hault if they don't shut up, fall in line, act out the script, and make it seem believable. Unfortunately for me, it was seemingly the worst acting ever especially because it appeared planned to occur during a live real-life ceremony to honor the actor -- not a character, nor a place to act out a conjured up scene on the spot like that and try to pass it off as reality. To discerning minds, who can see through the smoke and mirrors, it's an epic fail and attempt to humiliate (while insulting the intelligence of) certain groups of people in general through the industry's agenda to create a distraction to current national and world events. In addition, don't be surprised if soon there are even more ads, commercials, and campaigns about "mental illness" since the other key component to the narrative they want to push is making certain groups look crazy and out-of-control. Several possible reasons exist regarding how they want to label people who understand truth and speak about what's really going on in the world -- such as deflecting attention to planned attacks in other parts of the world, covering up their peers obvious tactics and participation in impending events that they remain hush-hush on fully disclosing the possibility of being in our backyard. Keeping a lot going on so that you're caught off guard after focusing on lies and deception which by the time everything hits the fan -- it won't matter to them what devastation occurs in the aftermath because they very likely know what is projected to happen and are prepared to chill in their cozy safe-haven while others perish. Still the Bible does not lie and they can't run from God's ultimate judgment.

Will Smith has less pull than the rappers. Our communities are saturated with generational failures in upbringing. Will Smith can't be used as a scapegoat in our community. When we turn the television and Internet off then we can focus on the real issues in our community, us! We are own monsters. Unbeknownst to you and to many blacks. There is a quiet movement of AA that are broken and trying to flee predominantly AA communities, not because of violence or drugs or low test scores in the schools but because of intimidation and the way we talk and act towards one another. I wish I could do a documentary. A young lady was crying over the way black women talk to her so angrily and curse at her or provide horrible customer service in the stores as if she is the problem and she already has mental health issues. She believes she will be free if she could move somewhere more diverse. I'm unsure if that's the solution but my heart broke for her. The hip hop culture and TV series contribute heavily to this idea of community or a lack of. I live in a predominantly white area but it's funny the black people are the ones laying their horns on people who politely let things go. They are also the ones coming out here cursing up a storm in public and being aggressive. All human beings act like this but lack of contiousness is making it appear we are bigger problem than other races. We are all being played the enemy.

The tragedy of it all is that Will Smith was genuinely a role model. As a rapper, he blazed his own path with music that didn't glorify the typical "gangsta life" trope of typical rap music of his time. As an actor and performer, he was likeable and full of charisma. Even his personal life (aside from his strange relationship with Jada) had been relatively uncontroversial. The personal image and message of his brand has always been one of positivity. But then this. I don't think that everything about him is a lie. I think he's a genuinely good guy who genuinely tries to be that person he portrays himself to be. Is not kind or funny when you are just insulting other people specially over a physical condition and sickness. That is not ok nor something to laugh at funny. Hear it from one of the greats 💯 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (UCLA ‘69) writes: "When Will Smith stormed onto the Oscar stage to strike Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife's short hair, he did a lot more damage than just to Rock's face. With a single petulant blow, he advocated violence, diminished women, insulted the entertainment industry, and perpetuated stereotypes about the Black community. That's a lot to unpack. Let's start with the facts: Rock made a reference to Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, as looking like Demi Moore in 'G.I. Jane,' in which Moore had shaved her head. Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia, which causes hair loss. O,k, I can see where the Smiths might not have found that joke funny. But Hollywood awards shows are traditionally a venue where much worse things have been said about celebrities as a means of downplaying the fact that it's basically a gathering of multimillionaires giving each other awards to boost business so they can make even more money. The Smiths could have reacted by politely laughing along with the joke or by glowering angrily at Rock. Instead, Smith felt the need to get up in front of his industry peers and millions of people around the world, hit another man, then return to his seat to bellow: 'Keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth.' Twice. Some have romanticized Smith's actions as that of a loving husband defending his wife. Comedian Tiffany Haddish, who starred in the movie 'Girls Trip' with Pinkett Smith, praised Smith's actions: '[F]or me, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen because it made me believe that there are still men out there that love and care about their women, their wives.' Actually, it was the opposite. Smith's slap was also a slap to women. If Rock had physically attacked Pinkett Smith, Smith's intervention would have been welcome. Or if he'd remained in his seat and yelled his post-slap threat, that would have been unnecessary, but understandable. But by hitting Rock, he announced that his wife was incapable of defending herself-against words. From everything I'd seen of Pinkett Smith over the years, she's a very capable, tough, smart woman who can single-handedly take on a lame joke at the Academy Awards show. This patronizing, paternal attitude infantilizes women and reduces them to helpless damsels needing a Big Strong Man to defend their honor least they swoon from the vapors. If he was really doing it for his wife, and not his own need to prove himself, he might have thought about the negative attention this brought on them, much harsher than the benign joke. That would have been truly defending and respecting her. This 'women need men to defend them' is the same justification currently being proclaimed by conservatives passing laws to restrict abortion and the LGBTQ+ community. Worse than the slap was Smith's tearful, self-serving acceptance speech in which he rambled on about all the women in the movie 'King Richard' that he's protected. Those who protect don't brag about it in front of 15 million people. They just do it and shut up. You don't do it as a movie promotion claiming how you're like the character you just won an award portraying. But, of course, the speech was about justifying his violence. Apparently, so many people need Smith's protection that occasionally it gets too much and someone needs to be smacked. What is the legacy of Smith's violence? He's brought back the Toxic Bro ideal of embracing Kobra Kai teachings of 'might makes right' and 'talk is for losers.' Let's not forget that this macho John Wayne philosophy was expressed in two movies in which Wayne spanked grown women to teach them a lesson. Young boys-especially Black boys-watching their movie idol not just hit another man over a joke, but then justify it as him being a superhero-like protector, are now much more prone to follow in his childish footsteps. Perhaps the saddest confirmation of this is the tweet from Smith's child Jaden: 'And That’s How We Do It.' The Black community also takes a direct hit from Smith. One of the main talking points from those supporting the systemic racism in America is characterizing Blacks as more prone to violence and less able to control their emotions. Smith just gave comfort to the enemy by providing them with the perfect optics they were dreaming of. Many will be reinvigorated to continue their campaign to marginalize African Americans and others through voter suppression campaign. As for the damage to show business, Smith's violence is an implied threat to all comedians who now have to worry that an edgy or insulting joke might be met with violence. Good thing Don Rickles, Bill Burr, or Ricky Gervais weren't there. As comedian Kathy Griffin tweeted: 'Now we all have to worry about who wants to be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theaters.' The one bright note is that Chris Rock, clearly stunned, managed to handle the moment with grace and maturity. If only Smith's acceptance speech had shown similar grace and maturity-and included, instead of self-aggrandizing excuses, a heartfelt apology to Rock."

Funny how Will got mad at this bald joke, when he literally made fun of somebody by being bald in 1991 😂 Edit: for those who are saying that was 30 years ago, you’re right, I can’t lie, but he was still an adult, being 21 or 22. What do you think changes in someone when they become an adult? Maturity, you get wiser as you’re older, but then again, you poked fun at the same thing 30 years ago and ran away with it. And, In Will’s apology, he stated that he couldn’t let go of Chris’ jokes towards his family. Not because of the glare his wife gave him. Another thing, he was literally SILENT, when his wife had an “entanglement” with somebody named August. With all the jokes he made in 91, just to be mad at one joke when he’s older, I don’t think you can justify anybody with that reason.

Philly has enough problems with it's rep, especially when it comes to violence, whether it's in our streets or in our stadiums. We didn't need this ridiculousness. If Will doesn't want jokes about him or his wife, then stop being a public person, or at the least, stop putting YOUR business out there for everyone to comment on it. No one asked for those red table talks about entanglements, they did this to themselves.

It started with the joke. The joke was NEVER offensive. Nothing to do with love but his ego. A BS apology as it never included Chris. Should fine for his explicit and fine for physically slapping Chris. And his wife should be ashamed of herself for not stopping him and keeping him in check as sitting back in all her glory laughing with Will when before he was on stage talking about laughing at someone’s pain. Crying about respect when he in an open marriage watch his wife been with another man. He should keep his award but shouldn’t get away with his deplorable behavior.

I think context is important. I grew up in a tough neighborhood, definitely had to defend my self in physical fights. You gotta do what you have to, to survive in some environments so you can gain respect. But he's not living in west Philly anymore, he's in a different context, he's a really famous actor, musician, role model to young people around the world. He needed to act accordingly and he did NOT, and I don't mean just the slapping and swearing but the fact that he refused to leave or apologize and went on partying that night like nothing happened. That is wrong and now he must pay the consequences. We cannot condone his behavior. He's probably going through a lot, but we can be empathetic while also holding him accountable, it's not mutually exclusive.

Don't especially approve of how Smith handled it. But, my God! Being a comedian does not give you carte blanche to be viscous and cruel. I'm really amazed that apparently everyone seems to think that bullying, publicly shaming and humiliating another person is an acceptable form of a "joke". Again, I wish Smith had handled it differently. But I can also somewhat relate to having a breaking point when it comes to causing someone that I love what I know to be unbearable pain. It does not condone resorting to slapping someone in the face, but the behavior that led up to it, making a joke (especially so publicly) about something that can be unbearably traumatic and painful for a woman, ought to be part of the conversation.

At this point I don't even care if the academy does anything to penalize Will Smith or not. It's too late for that after allowing him to stay in the premises and giving him an award. A man walked on stage, smacked another man in the face for doing his job and walked back to his seat with a smirk to received a standing ovation while millions of people and kids are watching. That's what I saw. And all over a stupid "shaved head" joke. Yes I said it, alopecia is not cancer and people have been roasted with way more sensitive subjects before. The Smith family isn't levitating above the rest of us. As for those Hollywood "celebrities" who gave that agressor a standing ovation, am not even surprised since I was already aware of how fake and spineless those stars really are. But let's not forget, we as the people/audience make them all the fame and money they have, Will Smith included and we do not have to wait for any one to take action against such a horrible act before we do.
