He probably doesn't want to be noticed, most likely for the reason of him knowing he will be in combat soon. He might also just not want to be noticed in general.

Someone that doesn't understand this tradition at all. These cadets and midshipmen that go on this exchange gain invaluable experience working in a joint environment for another service. The prisoner exchange is just fun at the end to encapsulate their time.
