Thank you, Jane. Your personal practice is an empowering self care. As you learn the ways your brain likes to run your muscles, and as you become more perceptive and skilled in your ability to teach your system to let it go, you can expand your practice. Consider front, back, and sides as a reasonably thorough practice session. Look what not the front. It's often strong and hard to sense the tension there. This sequence might be a good exploration to try: Open the front. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kZuo0JyLhniml6w It can help you be more out of the tensions of stress. Please let me know if you have questions or discoveries.

As you learn to shine some of your attention inward, what can you notice? What can you change? How are you stuck? How does that stuckness show up in you, in the muscles and the mind? Is it changeable? What does it take to free yourself?

I hope it's proving to be a valuable practice. Stress tensions are generally front and back. Some of the movements for the sides can also be very liberating if you have asymmetrical tension or asymmetrical pain expressions. There is twist/rotation, too. Consider starting at the top of this playlist and work through the movements that address areas that need exploration. Freeing the torso is the key to getting unstuck from the global tension patterns. The personal practice of the movements allows you to change the deep habits of automatic muscle tension. Please let me know if you have any questions. Practice often.

Another Eric! Have you heard of Eric Franklin? He is my main somatics teacher. Mindfulness is a powerful tool, it also is an excellent frame for having an inner world or inner life that reaches out and embraces the experiences of life. Watching to hear the language used thats not my usual.

I hadn't heard of him. Now, I see his method is very different than my own. My version of somatics almost entirely on the missing places and spaces that are separated from the awareness. We have an amnesia to those holdings, they feel normal to us. The gap, the crevasse, the vastness of our separation from the places that never move, takes special techniques to begin to cross over. That's what I focus on. The movements I teach do relate to Franklin's method, but my approach is different. And, I'm trying to make my method easily accessible to everyone.

ps. Somatics is a broad word. I have built my method on the shoulders of Thomas Hanna's version of Somatics. It looks like he's very successful. I watched some videos of Eric Franklin moving. I'm not sure he's as free from hidden tension as you might think. Most of where we're stuck is hidden from our awareness, like an amnesia.

I encourage you to start at the beginning of this playlist. Stop Being Depressed Playlist. Come out of the grip of it.: kzitem.info/door/PLFLw4vgr7ayi4gUn7X4D4YtdWyZhqsrSW Start at the top. Practice often. Whatever you feel even a drop of that sinking feeling of depression find some time to lie down for 5 or 10 minutes and practice. Change the tension habit that's pulling you into depression. Please let me know if you have any questions. Many blessings to you as you journey on this path. You can do it. Something like that

Even little 5 minute practice sessions sprinkled through the day can make such a good change. Be careful to help you nervous system be curious about your practice. Avoid it thinking the practice is tedious. Practice often. Consider my multi-movement sequences. *Practice Sequences, Combinations of Movements Playlist* kzitem.info/door/PLFLw4vgr7ayi5g-EIHvIoxssLuuYpKptY Keep reminding your system how to relax. Look very carefully for the root holdings, the holdings that limit your gentle breathing. Many people are trying to pandiculate where it hurts. That usually won't solve it. Look at the oppositions to what is hurting. The real stuckness is silent and hidden. Look deeply. Please let me know if you have questions, aha moments, or need encouragement. You can do it. Treat yourself. -Eric
