Just applied a base layer of Bead Maker on my vehicle over the weekend. The slickness that it provides is unbelievable. Super easy to apply as well. I live in Oklahoma City, OK. Before Bead Maker, my car would be covered in dust the next day after washing. It took about 3 days after applying Bead Maker for the dust to finally settle on the surface and not blow off while driving.

I do look forward to trying the Xtreme Solutions Topper in the future but I have a gallon of Beadmaker to use first. Without trying the other products, I really like the gloss and slickness that Beadmaker leaves on my cars. Yes Pan, bead maker is horrible for us here in dusty/windy valleys. Here in Las Vegas, if I use bead maker after I wash, by the next day from sitting outside the car will have a full layer of dust/dirt stuck to it. Considering we get lots of random wind it’s a really really bad combo. That being said, the gloss and slickness it gives off inside the garage is amazing.

Considering we don’t actually use as a drying “aid” 😂 These are all technically toppers when drying that add lubrication. Especially if doing it like Matt and most of us do it, blow drying first. Its funny when we use DI water, blow dry the car and still use a “drying aid” haha

Yeah for us maniacs we blow dry first (a lot of people don't have the budget for a car dryer though so they need alternatives) and so it's more of a topper as you say. But even after blow drying, there is always some water some place, droplet flying, and I like a perfect finish with the added bonus of gloss and slickness. :)
@masterstacker2833

@@PanTheOrganizer Yes I love my blow dryers. I have both the big (Master Blaster) and small (Blaster Sidekick) blowers you recommend. The small one is very handy when I'm getting ready to dress the tires. I don't use the big one as much because I'm having better results with with Gyeon Ceramic Detailer applied wet. However, when I pull my rained on car into the garage and blow dry it effortlessly with the big unit I feel happy knowing no water spots are forming.

I have never experienced that, but perhaps you didn't polish deep enough, and what he's seeing is the water spot marks. Perhaps the stains were there for too long and etched through the clear coat giving permanent staining/damage. So you can explain that to the customer. There's so much polishing you can do before removing too much clear coat.

There’s a great but small channel called ‘V-Project UK’ who has a video about drying aids. They discuss the fact that with modern advances in microfibre & twisted loop technology towels are enough to dry. Another great point they make is that the use of drying aids layers the protection from the drying aid over your protection of choice e.g. whatever wax, sealant or ceramic coat you may have so it covers the characteristics of that protection negating the fact you used it in the first place either for its gloss, hydrophobics, or protection. I.e. you used that protection for a reason in the first place so why cover it with whatever is in the drying aid? Makes sense - Worth a watch 🧐
@PanTheOrganizer
2 жыл бұрын
There are many different opinions on the topic. I just happen to share mine. I have been detailing for over 24 years now, and over those years was able to do lots of experimentation, and now with my channel's reach, am able to discuss topics with many chemists and industry experts and see what works best for me. So I share my methods. Yes a drying aid can sometimes alter the hydrophobics of the protection underneath, but the added benefit of lubrication while towel drying, and a boost of gloss and slickness is usually always great. Even experts from The Rag Company, who produce some of the best microfiber towels in the world, still use drying aids. That for me says it all. ;)
@visi5649

@@PanTheOrganizer - Great reply! It’s refreshing to see you admit that drying aids cover the protection beneath. You’re right that there are many different opinions - my opinion just happens to be parallel to what V-Project UK discuss. They seem to have been in the business a while too. It’s not a criticism so please don’t take it that way! It’s always healthy to have an open discussion with these things! 🤗. I’ve used drying aids before and totally agree it makes drying so much easier as it transforms the water behaviour! But using the CarPro DHydrate is usually sufficient for me. Anyway - again just a healthy discussion not a criticism! 😎

Best drying aid I've used to help dry the surface is still Optimum Opti-seal; while it lacks gloss vs new products, it's still magic at releasing water tension. Wolfgang Uber Rinseless mixed to detail spray strength is great at adding gloss and slickness as a drying aid and very cost effective, I got that tip from your channel a few years ago. 914 is a good detergent rinseless but doesn't add any gloss, might be good for drying after a tunnel wash where you anticipate the surface to still be dirty.

Ideally, you want your surface to be clean, decontaminated and free of any protection before applying ceramic based protection. So you would wash the car, use an iron remover, clay the surface, then machine polish if you have imperfections and scratches, then use a paint prep spray to remove polishing oils and promote better bonding of the protection, and then you apply the protection at the end. The bare minimum is to wash your car, then clay the surface, and then apply the Ceramic Spray Coating. Wait 24 hours, then apply a 2nd layer. Wait a week before washing the car again and from then on, you can wash your car and then use a drying aid after the wash process when you are towel drying the car. The drying aid acts as a lubricant between the paint and towel, preventing marring. And it will also boost the gloss and slickness. I hope this helps.
