CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Disorder) is a diagnosis of a specific kind of auditory processing problem. Often it leads to a lack of fine tuning of the auditory map, of the auditory cortex.
Dyslexia, especially for a phonetic language like English, depends upon phonological awareness, the ability to parse words into sounds and the ability to link those sounds to letters.
So if a child has a muddy map, we say what happens is they can’t parse words into the specific phonemes or speech sounds and that in turn makes learning to read extraordinarily difficult.
