Spirituality is not something separate from everyday life; it does not involve stereotypes like wizards with pointy hats or eccentric people. Since childhood, we are presented with a distorted image of spirituality, associating it with strange and unreal characters. These prejudices continue today, perpetuated by films and soap operas that portray spiritual practitioners as naive or bizarre figures.
One of the main problems is the lack of knowledge about spirituality. Many people think that those who practice it are just crazy hippies or astrology fanatics. Another common prejudice is to associate spirituality with black magic or esoteric rituals to fulfill desires. These limited and mistaken views distance people from the true spiritual essence.
Moreover, the idea that spirituality requires an austere life full of renunciations is wrong. Many people believe they will need to abandon their habits, like eating meat or listening to music, to be spiritual. However, spirituality is about living ethically and respectfully, recognizing that we are spiritual beings having human experiences. There is no separation between the material and the spiritual; everything is part of one reality.
Practicing spirituality is about seeking balance, self-knowledge, and living with compassion. It is about understanding that all experiences are opportunities for learning and growth, without prejudices or stereotypes.
