THANK YOU!!! I’ve been trying to figure out how my Hammond worked *FOREVER*, and especially how to repair it since it likes to slow down and then stop after a month or two.

Thanks so much! I have one of these clocks that was given to me by my godfather around 50 years ago. I've been using it for the past 50 years, and it finally quit working last week. Trying to get it running again. Your video and the comments are invaluable for me!

I recently purchased a vintage hammond desk clock with the day and date displayed. I can hear the motor wants to work. I am glad I found you here so I can attempt to repair it.

Well done! Thanks for putting this information in a video. While viewing your video I realized that Mr. Hammond made accurate clocks for the everyday man....an affordable timepiece that most families could afford. Then he moved on the making organs that many churches could afford. Both businesses grew into thriving enterprises due to meeting the demand at the time.

Thank you very much for checking out my video, greatly appreciate it! Mr. Hammond was a genius of a person for sure with fantastic ideas. I have also heard that he was the person that also forced power plants to set a standard of 60Hz. Lots of history with Mr. Hammond. Thanks again and God Bless. Jareth

Good information, thanks! I've got the plug out of my rotor and soaking, but I hear a rattle inside when I shake it to flush it. Is that rattle okay?

I use Ronson lighter fluid to loosen up the oil in the sealed capsules. Then blow it out with aerosol compressed air. then put in some light clock oil and seal up the soldered hole. Never seal or unseal the hole when it's facing up top. You don't want solder to fall inside.

Posted my comment on your follow up, but should have asked my question here. Do you think that bad rotor is repairable?

Seeking a working motor for the Hammond Gregory-I have not been able to get the motor casing apart without the great potential damaging it. Thanks

I knew it. It was only a matter of time for the Hammond organ to be invented.

It is not pointless to pull the rest apart. You should pull the whole thing apart and thoroughly clean it. Check the bushes on the clock and polish the pivots. Put back together and oil the pivots on both sides of the plate. This will drastically reduce wear on the clock. Just because it runs like this doesn't mean its good for it.

How do I get the solder off of the rotor to get it open? I can heat it up but I can't remove it.

How did you remove the time adjust knob/wheel? I'm trying to fix one of these for my mom, and I'm afraid of breaking it.

Nevermind. Used some pliers to hold the post and it twisted off.

Hi, how much oil did you put into the motor before you soldered it shut? Thanks
