The thing about the demon is that the memory might very well trigger PTSD, but the memory whipe would erase the experience in what we assume is an infinite existence.

That's why I included the caveat of "no psychological trauma, no PTSD". It's a little contrived but the thought experiment doesn't work without it.

Would I rather watch this video or gain the memory of having watched it? Here's something I've been grappling with recently: I don't remember most of the stuff I watch on youtube. Was it worth watching it? Should I stop watching it? What do I get after watching a video? Older?

I think the thought experiment genre of videos could catapult you r channel if you keep doing them
I think time loops work better in videogames than any other media. And Outer Wilds is the undisputed champ in that respect.

ALSO, time can be perceived differently by humans in fear, so it MAY be possible it only happens once.

i myself would take experience on the ice cream one since it counts for only 1 of many ice cream experiences so missing out on 1 memory of actually eating it while having eaten it is imo better then thinking you have eaten but actually havent

Enjoyed it. The choices maybe depends on how deep and effective the memory removal is. We have different types of memory, and some experiences create conditioned responses which work different from short or long term memory, so even if one has their memory wiped of a billion years of torture, the effects of said trauma could remain with all sorts of now inexplicable PTSD conditioned reactions and triggers (e.g. the sudden appearance of a whole set of new phobias like say of spiders if any were used repetitively as part of the torture)

I would eat the ice cream and lose my memory. I don't want to spend the rest of my life (and afterlife) chasing the dragon of the perfect unobtainable ice cream. Also, what the heck is a groundhog?

The migraine pill one. What if instead of 1 bad day it was a chronic illness for which you've suffered that they want to cure before it starts. I for one have had tinnitus and other head aches and pains for years now. And I would love to forget about all the times I suffered over the years. But I for one know it could drastically change choices I made in life. So having a proper painkiller that'll cure me of my tinnitus right this second would be soooo much better. To never suffer again in the future. The cost of such a pill or wish might effect things on some scale.
