I know, a lot of people say you shouldn't do law if you're not serious or passionate about it, or your doing it because you don't know what you want to do, but I think that is the best job for me because 1. I hate math and stem 2. English is not bad, I can do some critical thinking The problem is that I've heard that lawyers is on call all the time and doing a lot of documents before going to court and winning (or losing) the case. I mean as long as I can organize everything and work well, I will do it. But, I have a sewing hobby that I WANT to continue into my adulthood. I talked to my dad about his suggestion of being a lawyer and the money and job sound stable, but it seems very strict and structured. Honestly, considering my personality: anxious and hard working and stubborn, can I handle it? I'm so afraid... p.s I have more, but I'm not going to push all my burdens onto this comment

This is a legal company and we get tons of questions and requests from friends family co workers anyone who know what you are, who you are. We connect with attys across country and you are correct that school does not prepare you for every practice, some things you will need to learn etc, we handle estates, wills, business formations contracts, and will eventually move into family law and real estate, notary etc. I enjoyed your video thoroughly and thanks!

I am on a binge of your videos and your advice is super helpful! I was wondering if you could talk about how you decided on going law school and figured out what you wanted to specialize in? I'm about to become a senior undergrad and law school is compelling but I'm worried it isn't for me (introverted and worried about work-life balance) and not worth the steep price tag to even apply.. I don't know if I should hustle now and get an application in to schools when I don't even know what kind of law I want to study, or just wait to apply and work to gain some life experience instead first. Would love to hear your insights on how you made the decision!!
@TheAspiringBoss

Astrid Emyle hey! Thanks so much for watching! I can definitely make a video going into more detail about my experience and how I made my decisions. I think you can look into getting accepted and maybe deferring a year or two. Also maybe try some internships or summer jobs at a law firm. Even if not an intern you can get a glimpse into what it’s like to work at a law firm. Also there are many different avenues as a lawyer not just a traditional law firm job. Work life balance is definitely something i am still working on managing but i wouldn’t let being an introvert deter you! Thanks for the video topic idea, I will get on it! ☺️

If you have a friend who is a lawyer and want advice from that friend, offer something. Anything! Taking them out to lunch, offering some sort of service in return. One friend of mine offered to paint a picture of my cat if I helped her with a small legal issue. I appreciated it and we were both happy to be able to help the other. There is liability with every question lawyers answers and I don't think people understand that either. The question that always makes me cringe and brace is: "Can I ask you a question?" I know that they're going to ask a legal question and then it puts me in this crappy position of having to either take the liability if I give a wrong answer (which often means I need to do research to make sure I'm giving the right answer) or I look like a jerk and say I don't offer legal advice outside of work. So if you do have a friend who is a lawyer and want to ask a question, it goes a long way to offer a little something in return so that the friend doesn't feel taken advantage of. The only reason that friend has that answer is through years of hard work and stress.

I found what you said refreshing and I just kind of wonder when and I guess this is all professions I have like three lawyers that I know of in my family yet when my mother had her inheritance stolen from her this was I mean we have a copy of the will it's a matter of public record this was way back decades ago and the problem is is it when they when they found out and they presented the evidence I didn't get the money then executor of the will has a son who's an attorney and the heat she threatened to have him bring sanctions against my mother and I'm just like you know I guess that's in any profession though you've got people who use their profession against people and then you've got people who serve the public and serve their family doing it well anyway I just thought us I just want to thank you and I'm going to be a subscriber

I feel this. I went through a paralegal program that focused on litigation but now I work in-house for a commercial development company. My schooling definitely didn't help in that regard!

...and ppl don't want to PAY. Ppl need to respect the fact that you spend many years in school studying very hard....trying to abuse a friendship or family-ship to brain drain you is not right.

Would transactional law be a good option for someone with a background in Accounting?

Sure, although you won't do much accounting work. If you have a tax background and really enjoy it, tax lawyers are amazing!

I'm 14 and my parents are forcing me to become a lawyer but honestly they did convince me to become one meanwhile I'm here browsing in the internet questions for example “Do I get breaks? ", “Am I fit to be a lawyer?" Being a lawyer sounds good to me but at the same time I want to follow my passion of making art and music
