I just wanted to take a minute to thank you. I am a true beginner in the auto detailing world, and I'm a female in this male dominated industry. But your videos have truly been a great help to me. I've watched a few different KZitemrs, but you by far break it down to a simple level where is beginners can't go wrong. You're not long and drawn out but very knowledgeable, which is great. I can sense your humility, and I just wanted to say it is much appreciated. Keep up the amazing work!

Scott, recently purchased a 2009 Honda Accord coupe low milage from a dealership, loaded with swirl marks and light scratches, after watching most of your paint correction videos I purchased a Harbor Freight DA and Meguiar's d300 and d301 with microfiber pads and proceeded to buff and polish the car - using your videos as a guide - I owe you a big thank you - car turned out outstanding. Now have to dread the New England weather for a spell. THANK YOU - Your videos were invaluable!

I have a 2010 Honda Accord coupe BLACK and have been watching as many videos as I can to do the same. Trying to pick out what I need and technique to get started. I'm sure black paint requires special compound and polish and different touch. Anything you can share to help?
@jdisdetermined
6 жыл бұрын
cgasieni black paint polishes the same as any other color. It is just incredibly revealing of imperfections. I'd recommend starting out with something like the Chemical Guys correction kit, $50 gets you #32 heavy cut compound #34 medium compound #36 light cut polish and #38 finish polish. It's good to start with less aggressive products and work your way up until you get results. If you have heavy defects and deep scratches you may need a microfiber pad for strong cutting ability. Otherwise I'd recommend sticking with foam pads, just all around easier to use. Chemical Guys make a great foam kit. There are many other pad options, they are just what I prefer. I'd start with a mid level, less expensive but still capable DA. Meguiars MT-300, Porter Cable 7424XP, something in that range. If you catch the detail bug you can always upgrade to a high end DA and use the first one with a 3" plate and pads for tight areas. A 3" will come in very handy in some spots on almost any vehicle.. Have fun, it's addictive! These are my opinions based on my experience, others may differ.. =)

I completely agree with your statement regarding the HF 8" that its a fantastic tool for working your skillset. Start with it and it's only up from there. There is a good amount of vibration on it but I will say for beginners, get you a 3" and 5" backing plate and pads, grab a good compound and start practicing and honing your skills.
