I unfortunately colored my hair since the age of 17, and was never sensitive to anything, until last year. I suddenly developed a serious sensitivity to the stuff I always used and it was bad! Most of my hair fell out, and my face was red and rash covered. The worst was that when I researched the big companies like CLAIROL, LOREAL and others, I found they legally put tons of contaminants like lead, etc. in their hair colors. Even "all natural" boxed henna and other stuff sold at health food stores have dangerous amounts of poisons in them, even if they say they are healthy! After letting my hair grow out (it turned white and grey and I looked like a badly clipped sheep dog), I researched online and bought organic henna from India that checked out for no additives. If you mix it with espresso powder, lemon juice and warm water, let it sit in a glass bowl for 8 hours to release the dye, and work it into your hair, wrap it up for 4 hours and rinse it out with just conditioner, you will have the most incredible shade of renaissance deep red with brown and gold highlights that does not fade and last for 3 months!! The henna cost 20 dollars for a years worth. The henna pack conditions your hair and scalp, even your skin. It is naturally antibacterial and cleared up my endless rash and sensitivity on my scalp. It looks exactly like I was born with beautiful, natural dark red hair. If you want to have dark brown or black hair, try the above, then the next day use organic indigo powder, made the same way and following the same instructions as above. When you rinse/condition it out, you will have deep, dark brown to black that is not flat, but also has beautiful highlights.

@Das Reich 2nd SS Panzer Division The henna I bought was called, H & C 100 PERCENT NATURAL HENNA POWDER, and I got it from Amazon. It comes in a two pound bag that has 4 individual packets of henna, enough for a year, unless you want to do it more often. I do mine about every 3-4 months, and I use a whole packet because my hair is getting long again. I mix in a half cup of espresso powder, because it seems to tone the red deeper. I read and watched a ton of videos on doing it, but I found that mixing the henna to a mud like consistancy, using it within 10 hours and wrapping up your mud packed hair with a cheap plastic shower cap and a rag for the 4 hours seems to work best. I also bought Aveda Clove shampoo and clove conditioner, it keeps the color rich and does not irritate the skin or disturb the color I have. I hope that helps. Everyone's different, and sometimes you have to try the henna a couple of times to reach color nirvana, but it turned out fantastic for me the first time. My hair always comes out from the rinse a little lighter, than deepens more in a day or so. A lot of people mentioned that their color gets richer after a couple of days...

You can’t really do it with liquids but eyeshadows are very easy to clean. Just a light spray as a just in case. It’s not perfect but it can help If you’re applying it to other people clean everything in between people. I always buy makeup from department stores (MAC, Chanel, etc.) because the design is that the customers can’t open up boxes and tamper with products. A salesperson has to get it for you from behind the counter. I pay full price, I’d never trust a “cheaper” deal from another website claiming to sell the same product. I dislike Sephora’s layout because anyone and everyone can open boxes and use something and put it back.

I have a makeup box filled with makeup I dont wear, I have it for my niece to play with instead of her getting into my more expensive stuff, I test everything on my forearm or hand mainly because I have super sensitive skin and would rather have a rash on my arm than my face. if I have a reaction it either goes to my older sister or to a friend who isn't allergic to it, my niece will not play with that, however ELF is a relatively cheap brand and so is wet n wild and both are good and would be ok for kids to play with but like with anything you should always do a small patch test before any type of playing is done just to be safe.

I'm obviously not into makeup because I'm a guy, but I was prescribed a weird anti-bacterial face cream and a few hours later I found out I was allergic when it looked like I was slapped in the face a few times. I wasn't angry, news to me that I had a new allergy.

It's pretty harsh when you get chemical burns from an authentic product that is sold to you by an authorised dealer. I had mild chemical burns after my dermatologist suggested I use Benzac fash wash for my acne. I'd done a patch test with no issues so I put it on my whole face, but 8 hours after using it I woke up with a sore burning face. My skin was lobster red and it was so tight that I got a headache. I needed a steroid cream for my face and my normally oily skin was bone dry for 3 weeks after despite using my unscented body lotion on it. I later tried the percription strength retinol cream which didn't cause any problems (and also didn't help) and my skin held up really well to Roaccutane. Even highly recommend brands and products that are safely produced can cause significant problems, cosmetics can be dangerous without being fake.

Just because something is non-toxic doesn't mean you can't get an allergic reaction to it. I'm allergic to carmine which means I can't wear certain makeup despite it being labeled as non-toxic. Actually, wearing red makeup and having a reaction to it is how I found out I'm allergic.

I developed an allergic reaction to it. So I quickly washed it off & threw out the dye. I'm doing better now & using more legit hair dye

to all the parents out there: I’ve seen a lot of people recommend elf which i agree w but i have more options as well. if your child wants to play with makeup or try experimenting try colourpop if you’re willing to pay more money, they have a lot of bright, fun colors and aren’t too expensive. usually they have sales. shopmissa also has a lot of decent quality makeup and almost everything is $1, cruelty free and they’re based in Dallas, Texas. All their products use FDA approved ingredients 😊. edit* DO NOT buy makeup or beauty products (acrylic for nails, hair dye, lotions etc.) from aliexpress, alibaba, romwe, shein, wish.com etc. it’s not worth the risk!

When I buy makeup, I avoid places like eBay, Amazon, wish, etc. I only go to Sephora, ulta, morphe, or the actual brands website. Yeah it’s quite the coin but I’d rather spend a few extra bucks on legit makeup than the medical bills and the consequences that will come from buying cheap makeup. Even if it’s legit, test it cause you can be allergic.

@@Memento_Mori_Morals before I started working, I’d get drug store makeup which is cheaper than ulta and Sephora. Those weren’t bad for what they we’re worth and it’s better than getting cheap makeup from wish. But if you don’t wanna wear makeup, that’s alright. But if people want cheap options without having to risk their skin flaring up, I recommend drug store makeup.
@Memento_Mori_Morals

@@nothisispatrick9778 I use pricier drug store makeup but super sparingly because even the high end stuff has stuff I don't feel comfortable with getting on my skin for days out of every week. I make my own body butter and it has actually been pretty cheap to make for the qaulity.

I'm a broke-ass MUA so I KNOW it's hard to find good cheap items. But there are PLENTY of sites out there that have cheap products that AREN'T counterfeit. One company I always return to is BH Cosmetics. If you shop on their site, prices are super cheap for good pigment and a huge variety of colours in eyeshadow and lipsticks. A large palette is only about $20-$30 CAD. I've had my 32 pan palette for over a year and still haven't hit pan on it, even when I transitioned it for using it in classes and used it way more. Colourpop is also very cheap and ok quality. Juvia's place has some amazingly pigmented palettes for really good prices and has a HUGE range of foundations from darkest dark to pasty white, even pale enough for me. NEVER buy counterfeit goods or 'brand names' that are severely marked down.
