More than a couple of those look familiar. Lol. Can’t wait to see how they do for you.

Thanks Peter - they sure are easier in ground and I think they taste better in ground! 😋

Thanks, get to see the different varieties being tried. I'm invested in King variety for production, but will be gaining more experience with others as I canI I'm west of Eugene, OR US in the coast range 8b. Love all of you experimentation, and details of your cautions. Thanks.

Thank you Ray. The lessons about planting in ground have been painful at times for me so far. I don’t ever shy away from showing my failures as I think every failure leads to experience with the potential to SHARE lessons with those around you. It has always been easy for me to STAY HUMBLE as I am continually shown my imperfections.

I have about 400 potted King plants in medium tunnel now, but let them get a bit too warm early, so about 8" of new growth needing protection till frosts are past. I am experimenting with cold-hardy citrus, so let too much heat wake up the figs early. Many mistakes to overcome, but that's agriculture... the fun kind anyway.

Genetically almost the very same, phenotypically almost indistinguishable. In the 1960's, my father visited a dentist in Portland, who asked him if he had ever had a ripe fresh fig picked directly off of a tree. My dad replied he had never had one. This turned out well for my father, as you could guess. The dentist had worked in Saudi Arabia for the royal family, and upon leaving, they gifted him a cutting from their tree. He planted that in Portland, and my dad was given a cutting by the dentist. A large King fig plant was growing at my parent's home. I took cuttings off of it when I moved into the Oregon coast range east of Eugene. @@oregonfigs3314

My DTE is in ground going on its 3rd year now. It is one of my favorites, but has been strange in ground. It leafs out and starta growing the latest of my 23 in ground varieties.... who knows, could just be that its not getting enough light where it is.

I’m excited to get it in ground. I hope it starts faster this year for you. My tree was an airlayer started by Steve in Maryland. It broke in transit to me. I hope it grows faster this year.
