I feel so bad for Dan everytime I see this because it's really not his fault for a variety of reasons, including the fact Dan is a massive human, so when he drops back, eyes down the field progressing through his reads, a lot of ground is covered quickly. He's backed up in the endzone with basically the entire defense in pursuit, so unless it's a quick pass, what else could be expected to happen?
@TheGoatLocker

Yeah tbh horrible formation, back opposite side leaving the outside 1 on 1 with Allen with the ball literally being snapped 5 yards into the end zone ... I blame the guy that wiffed hard on Allen. ESPN should really stop playing this. It's lame.

but bro back-pedalled 4 steps while already in shotgun from the 1-yard line. I can see how this excuse applies if he snapped it up close from center. That's simply lack of space awareness. Way too smart and way too paid to make that mistake.

I was happy about it when it happened because I never liked Orlovsky when he played at UConn (Rutgers was one of my childhood teams), but he was a pretty solid college QB. @@RedHotWopYup. The thing is, the Lions were BAD that year, but not 0-16 bad. It was bad play, mixed with horrible luck both injury-wise (lost both the starting QB and the #2 within like a week or two of each other) and scoring-wise (quite a few of their losses were by less than a touchdown) that led to the 0-16 season. They should have been 4-12 at worst that year. Still bad, but not like that. Though, they did get to draft Stafford the following off-season, so there's always that.
