Hey bud enjoyed the video... Im wondering what your thoughts are in how good starting bremuda seeds next spring in a half acre yard that's mainly weeds and centipede at this time. My hopes is to change my yard over to all bremuda. Hearing everywhere about how tough and fast growing bremuda is I kinda hope to do it by establishing quite a bit if bremuda by seed then killing off the centipede when the bremuda goes dormant. I'm guessing itd take a couple years to get enough bremuda to that point but was just curious to get someone's opinion who works hands on fulltime.. thanks

Really enjoy your videos Pete. Informative, professional, and some fun learning. Not sure if you've covered this before, but might be somewhat relevant to this video I'm commenting on.... How would you recommend removing unwanted tall fescue clumps from a bluegrass / ryegrass lawn / fine fescue lawn? I bought a house that was neglected for quite some time and the whole front yard was covered in bind weed, crabgrass, tall fescue, fine fescue and bluegrass. I live in Colorado where its pretty dry. I overseeded in the spring with Scotts Turf Builder sun and shade mix and we've managed to get most of the weeds under control except some bind weed. Now I just keep looking at the yard and the tall fescue clumps just look out of place and ugly. This is the kind of tall fescue that people often confuse it as crabgrass. It grows faster / taller than the rest of the yard and is a different shade of green, so the clumps really stick out. when it's mowed, it looks good as my overseeding has really filled in the lawn. At this point about 1/4 of my yard is tall fescue with clumps mostly together and I'm not sure If I should kill my yard and start over or dig up the tall fescue clumps and fill it in with new soil/seed. I've also heard of people using herbicides that target tall fescue control or even round up, but I'm not sure about this. thanks!

I have been doing some renovations in my yard, this fall I'm going to do my back yard and I've got a small part of my front yard to do, my question is i used scotts fescue mixed bluegrass and it looks pretty good, but i want to try the academy seed, should i mix some scotts with it to get the blend right in my front yard, then areate and over seed the whole yard with academy, i am academy member but i don't do Facebook. I have a ton of Dallis grass in my front yard especially that strip between the sidewalk and the street. Will probably do a renovation on it next fall. This fall, I'm doing a renovation on the backyard which has one or two patches of dallis but has a ton of wood sorrel (2 big patches which cover most of the back yard), poa, spurge and a bunch of other weeds. Have been trying to prep for the better part of a month. Grass seed is going down this week. Biggest problem I have with the Dallis grass is in my neighborhood, every house on my street (except one) seems to have an infestation of it. How do you keep it at bay when there is that much of it around?

Pete, my yard was not worked on or maintained well by the previous owner so I am doing what I can to get it in better shape. I have thought about a renovation, but I am not sure that the yard is truly to that point. I do have a lot of the usual weeds in the yard and I am trying to get rid of them. (One of my biggest weed problems is Creeping Charlie/Ground Ivy. Could you please do a video on how to get rid of it? I'm sure I am not the only one fighting that darn weed. Thanks!) My issues as to doing a reno or not is my lawn is mostly a fescue, but there's a hodge podge of other grass types too left over from when the house was built. Also, my lot is basically level, but there are bumps in it that I notice when I mow or use the spreader. I realize it's very hard to judge without actually seeing the lawn. Would suggest putting down some ground topping to address the bumps and will overseeding with fescue eventually give me a fescue lawn or would you suggest a complete renovation? Pete, thanks for taking the time between ball games to make this video. I know you have been working hard on your July 4th surprise. I'm anxious to see it! Pete, never ever do you need to apologize for spending time with your family and providing for them. They are your primary responsibility and all of us who watch your videos realize that fact because we know that the same is true for us too. You and your family have a wonderful 4th of July, Pete!

thank for for this Ben I appreciate you. I will try and find some creeping charlie but we do not really see that around here. You can fill in the low spots will dirt to try and even out the mow. This video popped up tonight. My late wife's uncle was a landscaper and he always said. The last two things that will be left here on this earth will be a roach bug and Bermuda grass. I'm really leaning on starting over. I've had centipede grass and I've worked and worked and put lots of money in and two years ago maybe 3 years ago somebody must have been pissed off someone at SCOTT'S WEED AND FEED FERTILIZER. I've never ever had onions in my yard . After putting that down I've had more weeds , onions not only in my yard but it's in my flower beds. I now have more weeds than when I first started. And one other reason I thought about this centipede doesn't like walked on , rode in , looked at . It nice when its got its act together . So I was looking for videos on burning your lawn. When I saw you. I've watched a lot of your videos. I don't have Irrigation in my yard that's a big thing. I want to get a Bermuda type grass down. What would you recommend doing changing from centipede/weed grass to Bermuda , how to get there. Over seeding after I burn it off.

My back yard is overrun by weeds (horse weed, clover, crab grass, dandelions and some other weeds that I do not know) and I need to just renovate. I’m going to kill it at the end of August, dethatch, aerate and lay seed. I just don’t know what type of seed to plant. I’m in the Northeast (Massachusetts to be exact), any recommendations? I don’t have the time in the summer to water the grass all that often. So I need something that is low maintenance. I also don’t have a sprinkler system and don’t intend to install one (can’t put manual sprinklers either because the yard is oddly shaped and I would have to move it often anyway, so I might as well do it by hand). Could really use your advice!

I've been thinking of renovating my back yard because after I treated the weeds, not much was left. On top of that, there are several different patched areas of different grass varieties. Just looks bad. One last factor is that the yard is also really really bumpy and uneven. Also, the back yard is only 1850 square feet worth of grass so it shouldn't be too bad. Any tips on grading that small of an area? Not sure if I can get a large piece of equipment in there very effectively.

Growing from scratch has MANY advantages over sod..most important is that the lawn grown from seed will do better with building better roots and absorbing the nutrients in the soil..vs sod has already gotten used to the nutrients it was given when grown and in my opinion just never seems to build near as good roots as a lawn from seed..the lawn care nut has done a video on it and explains in detail

Pete's got his customer service right, excellent customer service. Sounds like you're in the same situation as me, building up steam until it's go time. You might want to consider getting your hands on this info, or into the Academy before the price goes up. I see it is a "once in a long time opportunity" to get structured professional TTTF advice. Lots of research goes into Lawn Domination.

Haha... Lawn Domination is that red stuff flowing through your viens Pete. It's getting your lawn looking way better than what makes sense or what it was naturally intended to look like. It's going beyond neighborhood lawn of the month and going after Internet Yard of the Month.

I am getting burnt out on people that can't get it in there head. Time of year is critical to a new lawn and IRRIGATION. grass will not grow in DEATH VALLY.

GCI Turf Services thanks for the reply that's good to know. Another question is I got my soil sample back and its calling for 16-16-16 @3lbs a 1000 but the closest I can find is 13-13-13 would it be ok to put it at the same rate and should I do it before seeding or at the time of seeding?
