We tend to have more anxiety about our grades and one mistake or question that we get stuck on can make me think I failed Anyways I have tried to stop saying that over the years because not only does it annoy my friends but also adds more stress on me when I overthink my grade

If he was so smart he would've been with the gifted kids or at least honors.

Gifted kids have classes like that too. As an aerospace engineering major, we had plenty of exams were the average was below passing

Yes I did cry once because I was one mark away from a full mark When you grow up in the environment that i did you’ll understand why a lot of ‘smart’ students are harsh on themselves and do feel like a failure if they don’t get their perfect scores Also btw there’s no such thing as ‘smart student’. Anyone can be considered ‘smart’ if you put in the effort. And I don’t mean effort of binge studying before your exam - no, effort meaning your entire lifestyle revolves around your studies and always striving to be the best, every single day. I don’t personally recommend that lifestyle but it’ll get you the grades and works for most students

I lived this moment a few times during undergrad. People say scoring in the 90th percentile is still good, but man is it soul-crushing when you've put in so much damned time learning the material and finding out you still didn't get a perfect score.
