Hello Planty People!!
I purchased one Squamiferum in Jan 2024...can't remember where or how much. The one with all the roots coming off it, was found on FB MP with a seller whom I now have regular communication with for $5. Plant friends are the best friends, no?
I found moss poles to be very intimidating when I first started in plant world. Then learned early on that you have to provide something for the climbers to thrive, so I started making my own poles with recycled water bottles and mesh. Now to keep up with my collection I no longer have the time to make my own. The supplies I purchased were not stable enough to support a larger plant and I would have needed support stakes, etc. Lesson: 1) Do buy wire mesh instead of plastic, 2) Be prepared by having several on standby for when your babies outgrow them, 3) Put plants on poles when they are young.
Preferring the D shape option, I generally purchase 6 at a time from Temu (yes, I know...judge me hard) and before the plants outgrow the pole I add an extension. Some will require a bamboo pole or garden stake to support the height of three, but we aren't there yet.
I am posting this video about 1.5 months from filming and am wondering if I should include an update already. I have an update video scheduled, but this being my 13th video (LUCKY) this plant will probably be on update video #2. Would my fan base appreciate updates in the video itself?
