In Europe surplus is not only drying up but also getting more pricey since the war started. British body Armor which before the war was around 30€ without Armor and around 180 or so with is now getting to almost 300€ with Armor, same with helmets they went from less than a hundred euros to well over that. But I think that when the war ends the market will get flooded again with all that stuff

I was literally on eBay yesterday looking for a bent bolt body for my 91/30 and there were still several listings from Ukraine, one being in Kharkiv. So I definitely can believe that between the former Slavic states and Ukraine, there’s a ton of surplus in warehouses just waiting to be used. Ended up shilling out $185 for the bold handle by itself, but given what’s going on I bet it’s hard to come by and individuals are either skimming from the storage bays or they bought when the getting was good.

I thought about Mike a few days ago when I noticed on a bunch of Ukraine war videos a lot of flektarn showing up. But on the bright side...may be a lot of Russian surplus available soon. Best make some contacts among the Ukrainian farmers, apparently they are very gifted at 'liberating' Russian equipment...

Ukraine would need to adopt a modern standardization program to replace all of that crap, like many countries have already done. Assuming they pull through this war and Poland sells them their Beryl rifles (which they themselves are gradually taking out of service) or if they adopt an AR variant, you may see one last small surge of surplus. It would likely still take years from formal adoption to completion, though.

Your reason's makes so much sense especially since the Ukraine has been having issues since 2014. The only thing I don't understand fully is you mentioned the old kevlar surplus items.
