You can still optimize for that 3600Mhz mark with lower subtimings for example samsung b die is excellent at that and of course dual rank memory kit (2x16GB or 4x8gb)

Check out 13:12 and you see a 3600MHz CL16 vs. CL14 comparison...its a freaking well omptimized configuration at 1T and yes its Samsung B-Die. For AMD it would be a night and day difference, but here its the same performance as the 3200MHz kit delivered. Its just not worth the money and work tuning the RAM with Intels 11th Gen.

His mother board website advertizes DDR4 5333MHz+ overclocking (Ddr4 is 3200mhz standart, and to go higher you need certain gaming mother boards). So apparently he overclocked the same Ram module to diferent values, on the wrong Cpu.

We're you able to test at 4400mhz in gear 2? I'm wondering if the gains would be worth it once getting up a little higher in speed? Also I'm not sure why you were losing FPS when you tightened the timings in gear 1, this doesn't make sense unless the mem overclcock was unstable.

Would have been nice if you actually showed memory speeds over 4000 MHz. Of course 4000 and lower won't scale with gear 2, you need at least 4400 to "break even" with 3600 CL14 memory. Not worth in any case, but it would be interesting to know if there is a difference going to 4400 and beyond, and if so, by how much.

Next time raise the speed and lower the CL more. And on top of that you are getting real benefits from the speeds in some of the games you tested the 3600 cl 14 gave you the best 1% lows which will you will notice in gameplay before the avg frames. I will take me tuned ram over basic ram anyday even if it is just a slight difference.

I'm just confused. I read this long article and the guy says "All other Rocket Lake chips, like the Core i7-11700K, only officially support DDR4-3200 with the 'Gear 2' setting". But them you mentioned you can run DDR4-3200 at the right speed with gear 1. I just don't understand how they would say it supports up to DDR4-3200, and then is running slower.
@inabstract
6 ай бұрын
It means, only the 11900k and the 11900kf support full 3200mz speeds, while allowing the same frequency in the memory controller. It means this video is completly misleading and lacking facts. Indeed the i7 11700k does not support it. If u set it to 3200mhz, the memory controller will default to half of that frequency, and run slower then the Ram module. OTher then the 2 cpus mentioned, and to quote intel: "For DDR4-2933 (or lower speed) :All the 11th Gen Intel Core Processors operate in Gear 1, no Gear 2." This means, to have equal ratio (1:1) you must use the XMP profile that sets it to 2933mhz. Not unless you want the higher 3200mhz, with controller running half of that speed (1:2) ? . Wich has its own benefits, such as using less power, that can be used for Core performance for example. But naturally downsides aswell. Take note, manufacturers sell motherboards set to lower speeds then what is advertized. So what is probable, is to see speeds of around 2200mhz, and we need to manually set it higher in the BIOS.

Only the i9-11900K and i9-11900KF , within the 11th gen, allow for 3200 mhz at 1:1 (gear 1) The rest (for example the 11700k, will run at 1:1 only at 2933 mhz. Its possible to use 3200 mhz, but will set it to 1:2, regardless if you pick gear 1 or 2. So your info is incorrect. Also, 11th gen only allows ddr4 3200mhz ( ignore overclocking provided by some mother boards) . Also your showing us with CPU-Z, a Dram Memory information of 1795mhz, wich is a frequency of 3600mhz. Meaning thats not an 11700k. Meaning also your entire video is fake, including the misleading title, as it is literally impossible, that you used RAM speeds higher then 3200mhz on a 11th gen 11700k. Also, 4000mhz is DDR5. The Asus B560-i motherboard only works with 11th and 10th gen, in turn dont work with DDR5 memory ram modules. Not unless you overclocked it into that value, this specific Motherboard allows overclocking. Infact thats exactly what u did, and yes thats an 11700k. Wich you failed to inform if thats the case :) 11th gen wouldnt work with those high frequencies, you would need a 12th gen cpu and above EDIT and final thoughts: Thats why your getting the "freaking same" results between those settings, in your benchmarks. cos your CPU cant handle those other frequencies that you overclocked :). Basically your overclocking it is pointless :)))

People seem to ignore the fact that 10* and 11* gen processors eat on average around 100-150 W more than Ryzen 5* series and that on the 125W TDP limit , not even talking about overclocking. In the same time they are not giving more than 5-10% more performance in some specific scenarios, gaming or productivity. This means that one year after of using a 11700k your power bill will increase up to 50% adding to the cost of the cpu a significant amount. So yes maybe now the 11700k is 30 euro cheaper than 5800x, but overall costs will be much higher in the end.

So with an 11700K cpu, I should be able to run it Gear 1 @ 3200C14 (my G.Skill ram speed) even though Intel says it only does 2933mhz?

It will at least post and run on 4600 speed ram correct? I get it may not be faster or worth it but the parts are already ordered.. :( Splurging as I only build a rig every 10 years...

It will post and run at default speeds for your CPU, it will only bump them up if you enable xmp or change the settings manually in bios.

You speak better English than alot of Americans, especially the black ones I dont know if those ram overclocks were stable but at: 3600 cl14 15 15 35 T1 and 4000 cl16 16 16 36 T1 That kit is a beast! My g skill rgb 3600 c16 16 16 36 kit (4x8gb) will not do T1 at all for some reason & it is a b-die kit. That was with with my Z270 M9F motherboard. I haven't had the chance to overclock It on my M13Hero/11900k yet but I am curious to see if it will do 3733mhz in gear 1
