The first time I saw a 300 TDi pump pulley I was shocked and thought I had bought myself huge problems ( I was used to 200 TDi engines) 🇬🇧

"take glow-plugs out" That can open a hole new can of worms! It should be routine maintainers to remove them yearly-

Hey mike, have you got any ideas for death wobbles on a 1985 3.9 isuzu county with early defender axles I've done the panhard bushs, replaced tie rod ends, put new swivel bearings in, got new tires...... plus a lot of other bits and pieces but i've had no luck yet!

There have been a lot of problems with Disco 1 with the wobble and LR tried all sorts of workarounds - they put balance weights under the swivel housing and a big weight attached to the nose of the differential, they also put the U joints out of phase - so instead of being parallel front to back, they put them at 45 degrees - still had some issues Disco 2 had a double Cardan joint at the transfer box end, and they didn't wobble. I don't think there is a hard and fast answer = I would make sure the prop is well greased and if possible have the balance checked On one truck we had a lot of problems with, we swapped the wheels from a known good truck and the vibration went away - even though his wheels were balanced correctly Also on my own 130 it would vibrate at 90km/hr and go away at 100 As the front end was a bit saggy, I fitted some HD springs 2+ inch lift on the front (as I had them) and now no vibration Best of luck

Did you set the swivel bearing preload as per the workshop manual? Easily overlooked. What tyre size are you using? Death wobble is much more common and much more severe with oversized tyres.

Nice job. 11 N-M isn' t alot but then again that is why those critical pulleys have teeth I suppose.

@@BritannicaRestorations And even that isn't alot, about the average oil filter cartridge. You just need it enough to keep it from slipping or jumping teeth.

My manual tells me 15nm for a new belt and 12nm for an original belt

That's the old measurement - with the kit there is a copy of the LR service bulletin
