He does a great job singing my favorite Stan Rogers song... Sadly Stan died before I was born, but I grew up listening to his albums, thanks to my parents.

This is some very fine work on a marvelous song. Key of Db. Capo at 6, play G. When I get to the pearly gates I'll be compelled to ask, "what were you thinking when you decided to deprive the world of Stan Rogers fifty-five years early?" Of course there are no answers to such things. We can only treasure what Stan left us.

Not many people really do Mr. Rogers justice when they cover his music, but this REALLY knocked it out of the park, great stuff!

My only regret is seeing that this was posted 10 years ago. What a beautiful rendition of this incredible song. It's the best I've heard, outside of Mr. Rogers, himself.

It's very difficult to do a cover of a great song like this and a great singer like Stan Rogers.....but Dan pulled it off with a great arrangement. It's a different feel in that key yet so true to the mood of the song.

Beautiful.... As a Scottish folkie, a Stan Rogers fan and now livin in Wrexham I honestly do need to pop down to the Nags Head for the one in a million chance of seeing a class act like Dan....Class!

Amazing heartfelt performance! I'm a kid trying to learn a bit of Stan Rogers songs on guitar myself but sadly tabs aren't really available. I've only seemed to find Bluenose which is another great song of his, feels amazing to play and especially with all the emotion and power you put into it!

Well Lee, I didn't post the video. It was posted by the fellow who took it, Ken Prydderch, from a performance I gave at the Wrexham Folk Club in Wales, UK. I presume he just wanted to let people know who wrote, and originally performed the song... Cheers

Am I missing something here...? It almost appears your posing as Stan. You didn't write the song, so why is it high praise to you that Eric Bogle considers it the best song ever written?
