Whitney had sung perfectly for 2 decades and gave us the best live performances of any artist ever. This tour should’ve been a tour to show the love and adoration we have for Whitney for giving us so much in her earlier years, instead people just bagged her out and called her a train wreck. She had a turbulent home life and we as the audience should’ve been her shoulder to cry on and a happy place where she can come to escape her painful life outside

Whitney was true to herself. People bought her tickets. Her voice had changed. Her power was diminished. But she had to perform. But she was like 50% of her former self. So she gave what she got, take it or leave it. She banked on love and understanding: her life was public anyway. Here was Whitney, a human, asking for love. Here was Whitney, a consummate professional - the show must go on, and faced the music. She accepted herself - true to herself. Her reputation would suffer, she knew that. She didn't care: she had to deliver. And deliver she did. RIP, Whitney.

It's more than just age. The many years of drug abuse / smoking / drinking took a toll on her voice. Just listen to the opening seconds of the video, a severe case of dysphonia. Even her speaking voice was very breathy / hoarse. Compare it to how Tony Bennett sounded when he did his last concerts with Lady Gaga at Radio City Music Hall. He was 94, and yet the voice was still clear / responding to him despite his age. Here, her voice is just shot, which is so sad considering what a gift she had.

Nice voice but really sad. She was just so great, otherworldly, that noone really could compare. And this is what drugs did, and if this doesn't give one an incentive to stop, I don't know what will. And, what I, sometimes, think about when I listen to Shirley Bassey,is how she got even better as she aged. And with Whitney, not that she wasn't absolutely phenomenal to listen to in her 20s, and early 30s, but imagine if she could have gotten even better. An impossibility, but we will never know. With that said, it's HER not her voice, that suffered more, and it's so sad noone was successful in helping this beautiful person with the incomparable voice. Today is her birthday. Happy Birthday and Heaven truly is blessed.
