@@PirateKing1256 I wouldn't say "fine". Functional is probably correct. She'd been a smoker all her adult life (both tobacco and weed) and that affects the larynx, especially so in women. Years of cocaine used had perforated her septum and of course we all know her lungs were also in a pretty bad way by this time (the lungs are basically the foundation of singing, without healthy lungs the voice cannot operate correctly) I don't think she was physically fit to do another world tour but she was financially obligated to do it. I felt really bad for her tbh.

She is the voice like Oprah said and will be forever. But I have to admit this was not the best time of her life! The last World tour was a mess all around Europe. Most of the people who came to see her to perform left from the arenas and asked to get their money back. She looked like and sounded like she was on drugs the whole time and well she died from drugs so end of discussion. Her voice is so unique there are no others who can compete with her.

She was the best female singer ever, not only because she had everything - a voice, presence, charisma and talent like no other - but also because she was able to create drama, pathos and emotions. This is something you cannot learn, although this is what makes the difference between extraordinary singers and the greatest singers ever. The "And I..." part might have been rawer than the original, but - damn! - you hear all the anger, pain and commitment while delivering the song. And, by the way, the change from silence to voice explosion (and people standing up) is simply mindblowing. Only legends can do that!

This was a good performance if you base it off of 2009 Whitney standards. She was always a good PERFORMER even if her voice wasn't 100% and hey at least she didn't cheat and lipsync or hide behind a back track like someone else we know...... Much respect for having the balls to even come back knowing your voice ain't neem' 30% What it used to be...

That shade lol But Whitney also lipped, even on her prime and especially after that. The only singers that I've never seen doing it is Aretha and Patti.

Sthephen oorty Yeah, I've seen a few early 90s videos of her lipsyncing but those were mostly overseas performances..for whatever reason it's mandatory to lipsync over there.

Really? What performance did she lip? Hardly none. There was a few in the 80's and early 90's but it was rare for Whitney to lip sync. You never seen Aretha lip sync? She has quite a few performances. She did a show in the mid 80's with Dione Warwick where she lipped the hell out of respect. Her voice in the 80's sounded nothing like it did in the 60's. Another performance of Aretha is when she did a Christmas show a few years ago she lipped synced.

Tina Olsen There isn't many of them that I can count on more than one hand but I've seen a performance of I'm Your Baby Tonight that was lipsynced..but it was overseas...so I thought nothing of it. Another one where she performed IWALY...for a TV Show but she was pregnant during that time so I didn't really think much of that either. One thing about Whitney, She pretty much never lipsynced when it mattered the most.

Love and miss her. She still gave it her all even knowing her voice wasn't what it once was. She still sounded beautiful and didn't stoop to lip syncing like so many performers do. Broke my heart when she died followed by Bobbie Christina in such a similar fashion. Too much heartbreak to even comprehend after all this time.

It's so sad. She left us with goosebumps thousands of times... for 24 years... then suddenly she does a few bad performances and we hate her because of it. The public is harsh and horrible. :( no one has any loyalty, but I do, I will always love you Whitney. You always make me happy when I hear you sing and my favourite time was when you were singing gospel in 1987 with your muma and she was so proud of you.

I am hearing you Brother, I hopped on a few wrong buses in my time, who are we to judge...I was not her biggest fan, but, the people around me were, so she is part of my life....the day she died a friend and I were in Kuala Lumpur for a months holiday, the Lobby Bar bat our lush Hotel had a resident band in the foyer lounge it was absolute magic, they sang all her songs, I cried, my friend cried ,the pianist cried, the singer cried, the waiters were crying, it was monumental thinking back.... we laughed, we sang along, we all channelled Witney that night in our own special way

Inspiring. So she didn't sound her best but, firstly, like 99% of singers today, she sang 100% live. Also, the fact that she didn't give up. Through this tough time, with a shadow of her voice, she didn't give up. And tbf I think she still sounds amazing

She was still Whitney Houston. Y'all ignont commentaries leave out that her 32 page corner's report (autopsy) stated that there was no damage on her vocal chords, but she had a fatty liver and heart disease. Whitney was sick, gasping literally for air. Some of the best gifts Hod ever made the world disrespected and targeted with such malice. To be quite frank, there is not another singer who could touch Whitney Houston in her prime then, now or ever. Nope. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Nippy is where she is loved, with her eternal heavenly father💜

Was just viewing Whit, before & after. In my opinion, the world remembers "the VOICE" that blew the WORLD'S mind!!! This I'm proud of and very satisfied with. The tragedy of the "drugs" as it relates to her life and demise, is not of the "gossip" commentary for us fans that she left behind, but rather we share in her pain that she felt from the drugs. Whit, girl u had us from hello! and we will never, never ever forget you!! RIP 💐💐🌹

The inner light can never be extinguished. A god-given talent lives on despite the singer's body. This is, in way, what Whitney is trying to tell us through this performance. She allowed the public to explore the outer limits of her voice, making no effort to hide its imperfections. She knows that you know that she smokes; the point is that she made it to the stage.
