If you can recall the stars of Adam 12 or Dragnet or the Untouchables, or the radio actors that played the Lone Ranger or the Green Hornet, or the Bowery Boys, or Harold Lloyd or Paulette Goddard without Google, you have a point, but you can't expect people to be passionate about a childhood that wasn't theirs. All glory is fleeting.

Well, I wasn't around in the 50's and 60's and I knew who Elvis was, and Lucille Ball, and Desi Arnaz, and Chubby Checker. I was born 1/14/1974. But, today's young people under 40 and kids probably only know about the major stuff that was popular in the 80's like Back to the Future, and Madonna is still relevant, but all those one hit songs in the 80's and bands and singers that broke up or fizzled out at the end of the 80's they probably know little about. If the earliest song they can remember is a Britney Spears or *NSYNC song or even a song released after 2000 then we are doomed because then most cultural things from before the 90's will be forgotten. Today's kids probably have no idea who the Cars or Survivor were. Maybe someday even Prince and Michael Jackson will be unknown by some future generation. Time marches on and cultural things come and go. But, vinyl came back, and there are even reissues of 80's albums like Michael Jackson's Thriller. Young people are getting into vinyl and are discovering old music from their parent's and grandparent's generations.

@@robkrasinski6217 You made some interesting points, but you also picked some of the longest-lasting and influential parts of the 50's and 60's, and you also mentioned that younger people today remember the important stuff, which I agree with. I mean, the Twist never really died out, and Lucy was in reruns forever. But if you went and looked at the top ten shows of 1955, you wouldn't have heard of most of them, much less watched any of them, any more than a 20 year old would recognize the list from 1975. But I'm curious about this, not knowing much about the show we were discussing: let's say you're going to teach a college level course on late 20th century television, and you need to justify the content to your Dean. Does Starsky and Hutch make the cut, and if so, why would you consider it significant?

Think about this. Glynis Johns made it to 100. She was going on 101 when she passed away. That is an amazing feat. I lost an uncle last year. Uncle Earl died in July of a bad UTI. They just could not get rid of it. He would have been ninety-seven in October. At ninety-six, he was still mowing his yard with a push mower. I miss him. We were so hoping he would make it to 100. Ninety-six ain't far from 100. I'll be seventy-two in August, if I live that long. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Few people make it to 100. Fewer make it past 100.

It's work to mow my yard, but I love it. My father was pushing a lawn mower at ninety-two. He made it to ninety-four. Uncle Earl beat him by two years. Their father made it to ninety. They had a cousin who passed in 2015. Doris was going on 101. My grandfather's youngest brother's wife, Aunt Gunter, died the first Saturday in 2006. If she had lived to January 22, 2007, she would have been 102. She was still driving at 100. I miss them all. One day, earlier last year; maybe in 2022, Uncle Earl had gone to town to run some errands. His daughter, Lynne, decided to mow their yard for him; to surprise him with something nice. When he got home, he was not amused. He told Frank, Lynne's husband, "Don't let her do that again." He was not happy. He enjoyed mowing his yard. I have all kinds of people want to help me mow my yard. I appreciate the concern, but I like to mow my own yard. Even though I have two artificial knees and two artificial shoulders. Most people may not know Jennell Jacquays. I'm surprised she made this list. But she was behind-the-scenes hugely influential in the gaming worlds, and unlike a lot of people, she wasn't full of her own self-importance. Even in gaming, she's not nearly as well-known as she deserves. Thank you for including her. David Soul also played an important role in Magnum Force, the second Dirty Harry movie, as a crooked cop, possibly his only big movie role.

It's always refreshing when individuals who contribute significantly behind the scenes receive recognition, and it's clear that Jennell Jacquays made a substantial impact in the gaming world. It's unfortunate that her influence might not be widely acknowledged, but it's commendable that you've highlighted her contributions. Often, those who work behind-the-scenes play a crucial role in shaping the industries they contribute to. Regarding David Soul, his role as a crooked cop in "Magnum Force" indeed showcased his versatility as an actor. It's interesting to note those moments where actors step into less conventional roles, and it sounds like Soul made a memorable impact in that particular film. Thanks for shedding light on these aspects that might not be widely known, adding depth to our appreciation of these talented individuals.

Just recently I watched her and Cameron Mitchell in All Mine To Give. I'd not seen it in decades. In the 1970's it would be on tv around Christmas and I would bawl. It still makes me cry. She was so lovely.
