Listening to Brigadier Jerry and Charles chaplain I am older than both of them,I useto living in Waterhouse from 1968 . Listening to URoy when he was at King Tubbys high power, before Dennis alcapone ,Big Youth, and IRoy started to DJ. All of them copied URoy styles,but the 1st DJ was Machike, and then King Stitch before URoy. I remembered when Brigadier Jerry and Charles chaplain, Josey Wales come on the scene,Early Bee. But one of the 1st established Young DJ in the 1970s was General Echo and Wilton Irie, they useto big songs playing over the radios.Sassafras the horseman at Black Scarpio ,UBrown, Trevor Ranking,Luwie Leppki, man like Peter Metro come in the early 1980s, Yellow man. It one thing that I found out that nobody is giving King Stitch any rating at all, when was the number operator at Coxenne and URoy was playing the number 2 sounds system.There is a ton of DJs in the 1970s and 80s, useto be on Jack Ruby sound in Ocho Rios. I know a couple of them well, that some of the young DJs them . Not giving the foundation members them no ratings at all, even if they created a few styles for themselves.They all copy or learned from URoy, there is no DJ in the world can ride the rethym better than Daddy URoy.I was missing out one of leading DJ Ranking Joe, almost the same thing as Daddy General Echo was at one time before he died in 1980, the best young DJ in Jamaica. He he did this song Arlene you dream, number one.I know you are going to hear some little people them who wasn't born as yet,is going to talk all kinds of nonesensical arguments.About dancehall music which they weren't around, during those days.

@Da Royal General I've NOTICED the same thing with COCOA Tea and Mykal Rose.Stress free life, seems as if nothing bother's them, and also genetics.If your parents started greying early, chances are you are going to start greying early as well.Just like losing your hair as well, which is genetics sometimes.Most men who have male pattern baldness, where the crown of their hair start to thin out, until it becomes bald, inherited it from their fathers.Most of these guys don't seem to have hair loss, they still have a full head of locks.

From long time, some of these ppl get confused with this dancehall ting... as what Charlie said, Dancehall is a place where u go to dance and Dj can r sing on the mic... and the music that’s playing (which is the version) is reggae music, but Charlie and the 70’s 80’s Dj have to go in the Dancehall to sing and Dj and that’s why they are a dancehall artist, on reggae music versions. So the point is, it’s all reggae music, its not Dancehall music!!! ☝🏿☝🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🇯🇲🇬🇧
@mr.nobias7352
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, because wha they don’t understand about Dancehall music, is that you have to go in the dance (Dancehall) and Dj ur slack songs for adults, not making slack music to play on the Air (on radio). Ska, pinto, rock steady and Dj songs, all play in a dancehall..., and it’s all reggae music! Big up urself👊🏿 🇯🇲🇬🇧

I'm tired of hearing this "dancehall is a place" nonsense, once upon a Time gay meant something very different to what it is today, the term dancehall today means a specific genre or offshoot of reggae music and everyone knows this, so stop confusing the issue with your living in the past foolishness.
@mr.nobias7352

Marc Marcello Lest agree to disagree on this dancehall argument. You know dancehall to a spot (a place) where u go to chill out and listen music, and dance if they can, but Jamaicans call the music dancehall music because it’s for adults (adult music) but the rest of the world they know dancehall as a place to dance, sing and Dj, so it’s a hall to fulljoy urself. So lest agree to disagree, and let us call our music, Bashment music. Bless up urself👊🏿

Wow the views of these two DJs some similar to today's artists. Basically, the sound these artist come with was like today's "trap Dancehall" but still in line with roots and culture from the artists before them. Dancehall music has so many facets. Who knows what is Dancehall now cos the same beach party Briggy speaks of is no different from today. Onstage reaching more and more people around the globe. Even from this interview Briggy was back and forth from Conneticut, now he's staring federal prison. I wonder if he regrets not making music because of religious reasons. Its like these kind of artist back in the day was making money from original 360 deals and made hardly any vinyl tunes that today cannot be streamed. These two pioneers set the ball rolling by not creating studios or setting up any business. 25 years on stur graph and no businesses or catalogue. Jeez Dancehall was a trap, maybe trap dancehall isn't a bad name afterall
