No, he's handsome in theory, like a hand nose and hand and stuff. However he's not handsome in that you can see the arteries and lips are blackened and the skin is too thin and all this other stuff. @Highimdadtwo Maybe, but there's also the part where Victor talks with the creature on top of a mountain and then watches it run off down below very fast. I have to defend Phantom Of the Opera (and I will admit to right now, the Andrew Loyd Weber movie is one of my FAVORITE movies ever, so little bias). But the one their showing, is one of the earliest horror movies, dating all the way back to 1925, where the main villain was portrayed by Lon Chanley, a famous makeup artist known as the man of a thousand faces (who's son would actually be famous for portraying the wolf man in the classic Universal monsters). The reveal of the face beneath the mask is iconic, and the story itself is a famous horror story alongside the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Plus, if you're counting the other movies, the classic Universal one is as iconic as the other monster movies, and the the Andrew Loyd Weber movie was absolutely amazing! Not to mention the famous stage play, which not only had amazing music (same as the movie), but also a falling chandelier!!! (I would have thought a theater nerd like you MatPat would have at least said something about the play!!!). He deserved at least a C tier, if not B.

As a fellow fan, I have to add it was also a horror MYSTERY originally, so of course now when all the versions people see took out the mystery(everyone does know it, it’s not a “does the ghost exist?” anymore) it won’t seem as effective to the audience. If you read the book or the original stage plays he was no pacifist, if you even confirmed you saw him. It was all a rumor. Such an entertaining series.

Im also a little sad about the way this list went, but this is my fav genre. Tim Curry's Pennywise is iconic and terrified a generation, and does not deserve to be a D. Jeepers Creepers was actually one of my top 5 favorite scary movies... prior to finding out the behind the scenes stuff. Calling him a body part stealer def makes him seem like whatever, what actually makes him creepy af is he smells/tastes your fear to choose what body part(s) he wants. Context is key for him. He should be bumped up one alone. C tier seems fair.
@kandieharrison4055
11 ай бұрын
Exactly, I was thinking that if It Follows is terrifying to them because you can't escape it, then Jeepers Creepers should freak them out more than he does lol. He will not stop and while he can get momentarily distracted if he needs a body part that doesn't match the one he wants from you. He will immediately go back to hunting you once he's replaced that body part. (Like how he wanted Darry's eyes, but he got injured, so he got those body parts first, then continued to chase Darry). The best you can do is either try to evade him until his time runs out or intentionally damage the body part he wanted. (Say he wants your eyes, if they're damaged, he can't use them, so it would blind you but he would probably stop chasing you to find a different person with good eyes). But even if you manage to outrun him until his time runs out, he'll wake up again in 23 years. Which depending on your age, could still be in your lifetime, so even then you aren't safe for good. So I definitely agree and think JP should be moved up at least a tier lol... Anyway sorry for the long comment just to say I agree 😂

I think IT got under-ranked. First off, the original version is absolutely scarier, because most of the time he literally just looks like a clown. The creepiness comes from the feeling of disjointed reality, when you see something that would be normal in one context in other situations where it becomes sinister, and the feeling that something bad could happen at any moment but you aren't sure what. Like you're in a nightmare, and you aren't sure to what extent the rules of reality really apply anymore. The new version went too far toward just making him look like an obvious monster that's clown-like. On top of that, IT's fear factor depends a lot on the atmosphere of the setting. The way IT has corrupted the town, so that the adults are all willfully oblivious to the bad stuff that's happening. Only the kids can see that's something wrong, and they're on their own in dealing with it. Most of the adults are not only no help, they're actually a threat. And finally, IT has to be near the top of the list when it comes to legacy. The book was written way before scary clowns became a meme. It's the iconic creepy clown, the forerunner of the whole creepy clown genre, and probably for the whole "innocent and innocuous thing made sinister" genre of horror in general. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I remember watching IT as a kid… it was boring but I loved Tim curry’s performance. It felt very endearing and sweet. I thought he was the heart and joy of the series even though he played Pennywise. I definitely prefer the New IT chapter 1 but chapter 2 sucked because the adult actors sucked so much. Who would’ve thought that kids actors would outperform their adult counterparts

Stephen King was sadly severely alcoholic for a large part of his “classic” era and says he barely even remembers writing some of his books. A lot of them tap into the visceral fears you only experience as a child, and a lot of them were just wild fever-dreams, and It was both.

With the haunted house talk, somehow one year, i got roped into being in the college haunted house. And it was weird just trying to scare people over and over again. Especially with the teens coming and not only not being impressed, but also with weird teen insults.

i feel like scary movie knocks him down a bit though . like its hard to be scared of WAAAAAAZUP whatch you doing son nothin just chillin ... killin. with the toungue sticking since its the same mask in a lot of veiwers they conflate the two, but his meta humor reads more deadpoolian at times so id say between c and b or even in pinheads spot hes risingfor sure but not there yet, not with mikey and jason and freddy fully yet.

Godzilla is THE movie monster! But tbh if we’re going off of horror factor I have to agree with C tier 😔 I wonder if Godzilla Minus One (coming out in December) will further cement him as a horror monster again.

Isn't it obvious? Killer Klowns from outter space #1! Truly a hidden gem of its time. Edit: killer klowns was just a goof answer honestly ever scared me. I have yet to see any horror movie that has ever scared me in all my 30 years. The ONLY movie that every truly scared me was sleepy hollow because that was the first movie I ever seen where I finally grasped the concept of death and knew that eventually and inevitably I to will die one day.

The first Godzilla movie was very much a horror movie. For the first half of the movie you have no idea its a monster, just random disasters that are destroying places and leaving radiation behind.

The thing that takes away a lot of points for "It Follows" is the weird setting and the story fragments. I think it's supposed to take place in an alternate universe with those shell-phones. But since so many things had no explanations or were disconnected from the main plot, the STD monster rates so much lower for me. Maybe a more grounded remake could make it great.

As an 80’s baby, I need to say that Tim Curry’s IT is definitely top tier. He lives in my memory to this day. Iconic! I think because you admitted to not watching horror movies as a child, you missed out on how great that mini-series really was because you didn’t see it when it was contemporary. Effects have come a long way and kinda dilute how impactful that version of IT was to kids at the time. It’s all subjective, but Tim Curry’s IT is much better than the new version. We all float down here!

The inherent creepiness of porcelain dolls is why Annabelle was shown that way in the movies. The actual Annabelle doll is a Raggedy Anne - not scary at all.
