Assuming you go twice a day (which makes sense if she went for lunch/after school, so everyday activities), it only takes 7 years to hit that number. I don't think the number of times someone goes to Disney should be the final thing that decides who's the biggest fan. The girl that went 5000 times was lucky to live nearby and have parents with money. I have a friend who is a massive fan and she goes as much as she can, but that's *only* 1-2 times a year because she lives in England. Should that really discount how much of a fan she is?
@kareemalmond
Жыл бұрын
nah i thought counting the visits had a more interesting result. it’s difficult to measure how much of a fan someone is. you can try trivia but there’s still flaws. i had a friend who worked at a disney museum and knows everything about disneys past and present but that doesn’t necessarily make them a fan; it’s just their job

I don’t understand the whole “scared of Disney adults” or “mental disorder” thing. I don’t love Disney myself, but it’s just something they love, are passionate about, and find happiness in. I think it’s lovely to see people have something they can find joy and comfort in, it’s very odd to find that “cringe.” So many people find escape in different things, video games, art, writing, reading, a show, sports, etc. Why is it any different?

I think a reason people can have a bad reaction to people who are so into Disney as adults has more to do with the corporate aspect of Disney and less to do with the childish aspect. Most people I know in their late 20s or 30s have no issue with *liking* disney movies and music. It's when the merchandise becomes an enormous part of your personality and the only place you travel to is a theme park that you've been to dozens or (apparently) thousands of time before that it starts to give me the ick, mostly because it feels like your personality has become so wrapped up in what is ultimately a carefully calculated corporate product. I feel that same way about people who are this into anime, video games, fashion brands (think hype beasts), pop stars, whatever. The feeling that you have utterly swallowed the marketing fills me with discomfort, even if what you're doing is harmless.

I consider myself a Disney adult, but I just can’t afford to visit the parks as much as I would like. I wish there was a better way to rank the “real” truest Disney fan other than monetary (people who have access to the parks that regularly are extremely privileged). I used to live in California and I only went to Disney once as a child (because my own parents couldn’t afford to take us, my aunts and uncle pitched in to take me and my sister). Then I went twice when I was a struggling college student putting myself though school. After college, I had to move away because the cost of living in California was so high, someone like me (who graduated college but still didn’t have any family support to do an unpaid internship to secure a high paid career in San Francisco). I’d be at the bottom since I’ve “only” visited Disneyland and/or Disney World 5 times (5 trips, I’d say it was about 30 days in the parks) in my life, but I love Disney so much my dream job is to work for them someday. The girl who was ranked the highest was ranked low on appearance and group rankings, so clearly she isn’t as obsessed with Disney as much as she was brought up near the parks and whole family were Disney fans, so she got to practically grow up in the parks. No hate towards her, but I don’t think that privilege makes her any “more” of a Disney adult than the others who genuinely love everything about Disney. I think the group ranking makes a lot more sense as far as who is the “most” Disney fan.

I completely agree with you. I consider myself a Disney adult. I love watching the shows, movies, youtube videos about the food and rides, Disney tiktok,etc, and own a little bit of merch, BUT I absolutely agree with you. I would feel a little bit out of the line if I was there. NOTHING against them. They have such an amazing vibe. But the idea that you are ranked higher because youve been more times, been to other parks around the world, have more merch, shouldnt onyake you be ranked higher or the BIGGEST Disney fan. Dont get me wrong, I know they earn their buck to make it happen and I am so so happy they can to make that dream come true ✨️ but not all of us can afford to go often or buy the merch sometimes(again nothing to do with them). I would just feel that maybe I would be ranked low because of that. However, we know that we are still real fans even if we havent gone often or have spend thousands of dollars on merch. In my whole lifetime, ive only been there like 6 times and I do feel lucky/blessed the chance that I did, but being ranked low because of the times gone, I wouldnt considered it to be a "real" fan. I mean when I heard 34, I was in shock and STILL be ranked low!

Ngl I feel bad for Katelyn… I feel like she may have some unresolved grief or something and is going there for escapism. Especially at the part when she said she goes there to forgot about student debt and remember her family that had passed, I get doing it once in a while but the amount of times she’s went is concerning…

My mom named me after the little mermaid but I’m not. Disney adult nor was she. But I do love the nostalgia and the classic movies. Ironically Aladdin is my favorite and the little mermaid is further down but I do relate it to my life of having ur voice taken away by control and fighting negativity to get it back (in my case abuse and controlling parents). I like other “childish” things lol. We can’t deny we all wish we were kids again in the aspect of spirit

My name is A’rora ☺️I wasn’t named after Princess Aurora but I too LOVE Disney. I am from Texas and not from a wealthy family so I complete related when the one guy said his relative had a 70 year dream to finally visit. I got to go to Disneyland my senior year of high school and got so emotional because I didn’t think I’d ever get the opportunity to experience Disney as a *child (not a minor but still under my parents care). My parents saved up all year so that I could be a part of that trip and I’m truly grateful for them for doing that for me. Team Beauty and the Beast! Wonderful episode❤

I’ve never had a problem with Disney adults and still don’t. But NEVER in a million years would I have imagined someone who’s not an employee going to disney even hundreds of times. 5000 ? I feel like that’s undeniably addiction…. and addiction to anything has layers that probably could be unpacked.

Every Disney Fan I met knows at least ten movies by memory, and not only the dialogues but every singular sound effect. I like to share with them quotes from this or that movie in different languages and this gave me the idea of watching Disney movies on foreign languages to improve my fluency.

Its okay to like a company but to be crazy about it sound insane. Especially with Disney.

It’s not that “insane”, it’s pure capitalism. No different than when neurotypical people waste their money on European luxury brands or expensive shoes/sneakers.

@@aus-li They’re not mutually exclusive. Sure, it is capitalism at work. But it is quite mental to spend that amount of money and time into Disney. Although, labeling it as “insane” is purely subjective and a very individualistic point of view.

After watching this "rank-kind" of videos where some people doesn't want to be last or always want to be first; they became toxic; narcissistic; so competitive about little things.... This one feel refreshing, everyone feels welcome, aware, and appreciate each other.

I don't think Disney Adults are bad I just think it's weird to emotionally attach yourself to a corporation based on childhood nostalgia that definitely sees you as a profit number (esp given the rising costs of the park). But it's their personal choice I guess

We’re fully aware that Disney sees us as dollar signs. It’s not the corporation that we are emotionally attached to. It’s the history, the ideals, the stories, etc. I could rant for hours about what makes Disney magical in my eyes. Personally, I’m really into all the “firsts” of the world that were introduced by the company… technological advances, too
