Since others are sharing their similar stories, I guess I'll share mine. I used to stream on Twitch. My very first moderator was a guy I'd met pretty early on in my streaming "career." He came around to chat rather frequently, seemed to be fairly intelligent, and had expressed his desire to become a mod for my channel. So, I gave him the role...and he was great! He was always quick to deal with any spammers or troublemakers, and if I ever needed something done inside my Discord server, he was on it. I rarely even had to ask. He would code bots and other programs for me, too! I thought I was really, really lucky to have this guy on my side, especially as such a small creator. Fast forward to around a year later. At that point, my community had grown and I'd assembled an entire team of mods I was fairly certain I could trust. That is, until this dude started acting super sketchy. Every few weeks, he'd have a brand new Discord account with the excuse that his old one was unfairly banned. That was red flag number one. Red flag number two was when he started lying about his health, seemingly to scam people for favors. He was ALWAYS in the hospital, just constantly, and it was almost always for something that didn't make a whole lot of sense. But, man, people sure did bend over backwards for him whenever he told them he was sick! The third and final red flag was when he sent me a private message asking me if I'd grant him more permissions so he could ban another mod of mine, who had apparently called him a pervert. To which I was like...What? So, I assembled ALL of the other mods and tried to figure out what happened, hoping to resolve the situation before it led to more infighting and the dissolution of my mod team, because I actually needed these guys at this point. That's when the dude who'd supposedly called Mr. "Sorry, My Account Got Banned Again" a pervert spoke up and proceeded to tell me he'd discovered the guy had essentially been using his status as a mod/admin for various streamers as a means of grooming minors. Fucking fantastic, right? Anyway, I took away his privileges, gave him the ban hammer, and that was that. I tried to report him to Discord, but there ultimately wasn't much they could do. I don't stream anymore (mostly for personal reasons), but part of me feels like my channel and my brand were tainted by that man and it still makes me sick. Connor is right on so many levels. I saw the warning signs, but you never really know WHY someone is acting sus, and I never thought this kind of thing would happen to me. But it did, and it's a shame that it happens to anyone. I don't like thinking I played a role in facilitating some p*dophilia shit, but I sure as heck feel responsible some days. I just hope he's not out there still, hurting more people.

Just regarding "Red Flag #2" - the health issues. I definitely understand how concerning that can be, especially if it comes up out of the blue, but speaking as a moderator who has a chronic illness and is not always as active as I once was - frequent and reoccuring health issues isn't necessarily a reason to be suspicious of members of your community. I'm not implying that this person WAS ill and I absolutely recognize that people lie about their health and abuse people's sympathy unfortunately very often, nor do I intend to infer that you didn't have legitimate concerns regarding their excuses. I just mainly wanted to comment for others who might be reading this and ask that they use their judgements fairly if a member of their community is ill frequently. I'm very sorry you had a person abuse the privellages you trusted them with and used that to do such a disgusting and vile manner.I hope the victims of this person found peace and healing. I'm sorry that happened with your Twitch community. I hope you know another individual's awful actions are not your's to bare and certainly if you had truly known before then I assume you would've acted much sooner to remove them. It's good you tried your best to accommodate those you felt supported by and when an issue arose you wanted to assess the situation for yourself, as you should as the community's figurehead/channel owner. Your kindness just like Connor's and others who've shared similar horrendous experiences were not the problem. The problem was someone else manipulated that kindness, betrayed your and other's trust, and abused their role/position to do awful immoral acts. And that was wrong of them, not you for believing in them/people. I think your perspective is similar to others and very realistic to what having those sorts of situations happen are like sometimes, so thank you for sharing. And from a stranger on the Internet (so take this with a grain of salt), it seems you have a wonderful heart/good head on your shoulders which I do hope you continue to keep. Connor's privated videos were actually how I initially found out about him. I was in a Black Butler phase when I was younger, and I learned how to do Ciel and always hoped of being a bigger voice acting personality like Connor because he inspired me so much. After years of working on voices, I finally got into streaming during COVID and ended up making a Black Butler livestreaming series, recruiting different people to be different characters. One of my good friends can also do Alois, and since I had a Sebastian, I decided we'd go seeking out for a Claude. The guy we found was super talented, extremely smart, and a down-to-earth guy. He was kind of quiet, but no main red flags for the most part. We all ended up doing extremely well on this smaller platform, raising money for charities during livestreams and just overall making the app itself take anime and voice acting content creators more seriously, because before they had pretty much ignored the anime community. Unfortunately, one day, I got a message from one of my fans with screenshots where he had been engaging in sexual, uncomfortable conversations with a minor. He was 20, she was 14. I was absolutely disgusted and have since cut contact with him, ended my livestreaming series, and removed all my saved streams with him in them. I don't have ANYWHERE near as big a platform as Connor... but I understand the guilt he felt because I felt it too. To know there was someone so close to me trying to feed off my success and prey on my fans was absolutely disgusting. But I'm glad to know that Connor is still doing what he loves and is getting the change to speak about the entire situation and how it made him feel openly. I have MAJOR respect for him and I think I always will!!!

To lay things out for everyone. The individual is biologically female, but transitioned (possibly related to their desire to become Ciel) and born in 1993, so three years older than Connor. They were arrested in 2019 on three counts, Child Molestation (Felony), Aggravated Child Molestation (Felony), and Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes Where the Victim is Older Than 14 but Less Than 16, and the Offender is 18 or Younger (Misdemeanor). Given the timeline of Connor's content with them, despite what is sounds like he was saying, they were not a 29 year old with a 17 year old. The individual that traveled with them to London (this person is originally from New York) was certainly underage, and almost certainly had an illegal relationship with them, however, age wise they're likely not the victim that eventually pressed charges, as given the third charge, "Ciel" was 18 or younger at the time of their involvement, or at least the start of it. From other stories Connor has told of this individual they frequently had young girls around them or in calls with them, likely using the character of Ciel, the popularity of the Black Butler fandom with young women at that time, and possibly the low level stardom to entice these girls into indecent relationships. As far as I'm aware only one victim has pressed charges, many of the others involved with them may have been consenting, or as is often the case, something that started as consenting quickly expanded to something that wasn't, in which case victims often feel conflicted on pressing charges. Given the Aggravated Molestation charge the victim that came forward likely had a particularly heinous encounter. As far as I'm aware they're in prison. From what I gathered at the time the evidence was particularly damming given that they were arrested in Georgia and moved across state lines to a state jail in New York, where the crimes happened (makes sense seeing as that's where they were from originally).

@_lime.
2 жыл бұрын
@@ReblazeGaming What I'm saying is that given the crimes they were convicted of, their abuse of that person happened in 2011 or earlier to make "Ciel" under 18 at the time of the crimes. Connor created his channel in 2014, so this is long before they ever knew each other. The person they abused at that time was between 14 and 16, and the crimes happened in New York state (as that's where they were charged), not in London. So I'm assuming that the supposed 17 year old that Connor saw them with in London is not the same victim that has pressed charges.

That could be part of why they did it too tho if they truly were believing their own act that they actually were ciel cause unfortunately it's often people who have dealt with stuff like that at a young age that end up doing it to others so it makes me wonder if they had kinda adopted ciel's trauma from that experience as their own by being incredibly delusional

Reminds me of a situation that I had a while back. Was a game shop owner who we all hung out at. Like a place to play Magic, Dungeons and Dragons, and Warhammer 40k all at the same place. Hung out there for a few years, was even invited to their after hours board game group. Was a fun time all around. Turns out that the owner, who was involved in all of it, had a bucket load of CP on his personal computer at home. Looking back afterwards, there were some hints of that in the conversations that we had but I just chalked that up to gamers being slightly awkward and him being old enough to serve in Vietnam. Do have to give him some props though. He never fought the charges, and took the punishment that was handed down fully. No fighting it, no trying to reduce the charges, just "Ok, this is it. Do what needs to be done".

I knew a guy similar to this. His creepiness never escaped Discord but still. He was the server owner. He would use the character he voiced to do erm... "RP" with some of the younger VAs of other characters (The ships were very popular at the time, but most of them were under 16 and he at the time was 23 so...). The whole admin council went over every complaint, talked to him and kicked him (and his second in command who did nothing to stop him) out. I (as the newly appointed 2nd after being 3rd for about a year) made sure he was banned from the server and the other admins and I culled his likeness from said server. Unfortunately that server NEVER recovered and is now dead (I should know because I now own that dead server).

Similar thing, different SA. I used to be friends with someone who would go on to rape my best friend at the time. He was reported, the secondary school they both attended did nothing about it despite a police report being filed and an active case ongoing between him and her, he went on to SA at least two more girls to my knowledge at that same school, possibly more. One was around 17, at the time he was 18 and the other allegedly was in year 8 so around 14. He went through the court system, most he got were intervention orders because he manipulated out of all of them. He was still able to attend the school. Nothing happened until people threatened to go straight to the council. That’s when he was expelled. Not after making multiple people victims, only after it was going to affect their reputation as a school.

Had a similar kind of experience once about a few years back during a semester in college. I was in a gaming class, and I was paired up with a guy(already forgot who he is). It was near the end of the semester, and we were supposed to be working on a small game(at least try to). I was busy making sprites for the game and was trying to maintain communication with my partner. About 3 weeks pass, and this bastard never responded back. I had to pull several all nighters trying to piece together basically a WiP in Unity by myself. I was completely depressed at this point. Left alone to do a GROUP PROJECT. And on the day of the final to present our works, I was just a complete mess. I kept making excuses instead of just talking about what I made. I hated it. And this happened while I was dealing with a house fire that happened a few months back at this time(had moved into an Airbnb to stay while our house was being de-detoxified and the workers cleaning the mess). I'm honestly surprised how I'm still here. I don't know what happened to that bastard, but I hope he gets what he deserves.

Similar experience. Was in an engineering class making an automated robot. In the last three weeks both my partners messaged me saying they were not passing the class and had to focus on their other classes. I said I understood and hammered that robot shit together in a few all nighters. At the final presentation, I presented solo and showed my barely working project that I coded, CADed, and fabricated, some parts held with gorilla glue. Thankfully the professor was understanding and I passed the class since I demonstrated that I at least knew my automation stuff. I felt like the fucking MAN when it was over. Funny thing is, the day of the presentation, I had pulled an all nighter twice, and was hyped up on so much coffee that I could barely think. That morning I made the presentation slides then booked it all the way to school. It was still dark and the weather was stormy but I was driving my ass off super stressed and half asleep. Made it just as the class was starting. Once I presented, I went to my car and passed out. Good times

Speaking of Connor’s old friend, in a small community we actually found out one of the users was Ciel Star. He wasn’t just like, any user in the community either, before we realized who he was, he was fairly well known in the community haven been friends with quite a few of the other more well known players, generally just like, joining that group y’know? They’d like, send a bunch of gifts (ingame gifts!!) to those players to get them to like them, (a concerning part is that the community had minors within it, although to my knowledge he mainly talked to adults) anyways, once we found out it was absolutely awful because so many people knew them, i believe everyone has cut them off as of now, and currently, they’ve been driven off of the app the community was based upon. For further context, he went by the name “webs”, we ended up discovering his identity as he sent a selfie within one of the community discords, community members ended up connecting the dots

The only thing I have to say about the whole “being Ciel” thing is that they quite possibly could have had a delusional disorder, which essentially is the brain telling itself that the person IS in fact that character, when clearly they are not. It is strange, but there are ways to get the person some help- the thing not to do is reality check them as that could put them further into their delusional attachment. This in no way is justifying the things they have done at all, and I am appalled at their actions and feel sorrow for Connor, and I want to say that I am only explaining this to ensure that others who have the same disorder are not associated with someone like this because of the person in question’s crimes.

Leaving it here in case anyone is curious, but CielStar was recently sentenced in August. They are a registered offender and are currently serving a suspended sentence, with no access to the internet. If they slip up, they get a boatload of prison time.

Been there. I quit a podcast project where I invested months of salary, a couple of years of making content, interviewing, purchasing equipment... because the people were lazy. They didn't show up on time but wanted to get all the benefits and dictate how to do the work. I cut the bridges on time, the best thing to do. Leeches.

This hits hard as I used to live with two other teachers, one of them my best friend of many years and the other a guy who was pretty much the perfect roommate, clean, kind, paid bills on time, quiet AF. One night he brings his "girlfriend" over to the house, and they say she's 23, and she looks it. Ok, cool. Good roommate and a guy I was becoming friends with is getting some, awesome. Except no. Turns out she wasn't 23, she was 16, and a student of his. Found this out when the police came to question us (my best friend and I) about it. Since we were both teachers it felt particularly awful that we'd missed it (we were all busy AF, as educators are wont to be), and also felt betrayed because the asshole had brought her to *our place* , morally if not legally making us a party to his crime (we honestly had no clue and didn't witness any of the actual offenses.)

I want to talk about a very personal story I had with Ciel Star years before he'd gotten into the Black Bulter scene. A lot of people may not know, but Ciel Star was very popular in the South Park cosplay community back around 2009-2012. In 2011, I was very into SP and people who cosplayed the characters and found a channel (southparkcosplays) and I really enjoyed watching them. I was 11 at the time and created my own KZitem channel so I could comment/interact with creators that I enjoyed. KZitem was the only social media I was allowed to use and back then they used to have a private messaging system and a wall subscribers could post on. I would always comment on his wall about how much I liked their cosplays, how I thought they were really funny, etc. After awhile, they sent me an inbox thanking me and saying that I was their favorite subscriber. Throughout the course of us talking, his messages would turn very flirtatious. I didn't find it odd or discomforting at thst time because I was a kid and was getting what I thought were innocent, sweet compliments from someone I looked up to. He did eventually ask my age and I told him my age. He was surprised, but continued on flirting with me. Skype was a very popular thing at that time and he asked if I had one, which I said 'no' and wasn't really allowed to have one. He would pressure me constantly to make an account and I did make one in secret. There he would ask for photos of me or me in my cosplay (I was a beginner cosplayer) and would tell me I looked cute or hot and that my outfits flattered my body shape when I would send them. We had very minimal calls because I was too afraid of being caught, but the calls were more or less the same as our text conversations. I only started to feel uncomfortable when he'd ask for semi-lewd cosplay photos or would send me pictures of that nature of himself in a cosplay of a character that I enjoyed. I told him I wasn't very comfortable with doing that and thankfully I never did. Ciel stopped talking to me altogether shortly after I told him no and eventually blocked me. I'm not sure when he left the South Park fandom and wiped his KZitem since I stopped watching and unsubscribed not too long after we cut contact. I didn't keep up with him or knew if he was still around until I had seen he had been arrested. I knew that he looked very familiar and when I saw his deadname my heart dropped. Back when we were talking, he was pre transition and would go by a nickname of his deadname (Allie). He also went by Ike sometimes, but that was more towards the end of our 'friendship.' But yeah, Ciel Star has been doing similar stuff like this (to this extreme I'm unaware of) for so long.

That’s actually crazy and so scary to think about. I’m glad it didn’t escalate further than it did between you two, but still that must have been really uncomfortable and shocking once you found out. I’m very sorry you had to go through that.

@@earlgreymilktae i honestly did not think about him at all for so many years after it happened until he got arrested. my jaw dropped when i saw who it was and looked at their arrest record. i’m doing so much better since that all happened, but i hope more than anything the other minors that he affected are able to heal and are away from him.

Yeah there was this guy I had a class with in highschool. He was two years older than me but he seemed pretty normal. He made music and just kept to himself. Well, a little bit after I graduated I found out the guy got Chris Hansened and he’s still in jail to this day. I don’t know what these people think cause that’s just a shortcut to ruining your life.

Sad to hear all this stuff. Glad Connor is thriving rn and he deserves this success. He shouldnt blame himself too hard on giving Recognition to a horrible person because he didn’t know. I remember actually finding Connor from the Black Butler against Humanity video! Think I remember the channel of that person! They did a irl thing with a person who was really playing the role has Elizabeth from black butler

And this is one of the reasons why I am still deciding if I should continue to create KZitem videos or just stick to a normal job, because of people like that. Making it hard for new content creators who probably wanted to do collabs for more veiws, or even hire them as moderaters all because they have to worry about crap like this. Edit: Also, I hope people won't start to associate you with that creep, you do the world a great deal with your videos sir, keep on being you!!🍷

Oh yeah, I remember hearing this in a full podcast. If you realize it, the segment where they spoke about the guy on trash taste does not have a highlight video for the purpose of possibly not spreading word of the guy. Edit: Apprently it does have a highlight, I just saw it only on the full podcast.

I’m 14 and my friends are all around similar ages of 11-13 at the time this happened. My friend said she knew this really cool guy and brought him into our friend group, we’ve had adult friends but we hadn’t had any bad experiences because they all just wanted to be our big brothers and sisters. This dude was 21, and we didn’t really mind at first. He was really sad with his life and often talked about how single he was. He was flirtatious with my friend who was at the time 12, and after confronting him he stopped and we thought okay, well that’s that. He had tried having sexual conversations with me and I refused because at the time I was dating someone and Im asexual. Since we’re really young we didn’t fully understand the BLINDING red flags. It was a our first experience with a predator. One day, he got a girlfriend and everyone congratulated him and were happy for him. A lot of us thought that it’d stop the uncomfortable behavior, and it did. But soon after he had troubles with his girlfriend and he was really sad over it, and we comforted him. But after a month or two they still had troubles, it was her telling him over and over again that she wasn’t comfortable with their relationship and she wanted to break up. We offered to meet her to get the full picture but he always REFUSED to let us meet her. We realized that he never told us her age. My friend who had introduced us to him managed to get ahold of her through mutuals. And she was 15, and she didn’t want to be in a relationship anymore because she realized he was preying on her. We all immediately blocked him and we’re all terrified that we spoke to this guy for months on end. We all blatantly felt bad that we let this guy hang out with us for so long. Especially when he tried preying on two of us..

I discovered Connor thanks to his Sebastian impersonations accompanied by Ciel Star, this was back when I was in my Black Butler phase before disliking it later on, but I still stayed for Connor's content and not just the Black Butler stuff. I remember once visiting Ciel Star's channel out of curiosity, I did get these weird vines from them and also thought they were getting a little *too* into the character to the point where they believed they were indeed Ciel Phantomhive from Black Butler. I honestly just forgot about them and didn't even notice their disappearance or cared but it's definitely creepy af to know what ever happened to them.

Yoooo I never knew any of this holy shit lol. I remember finding Connor through the Black Butler Cards Against Humanity series, and soon after following the Ciel. But I only actually watched a few of Ciels videos, and ended up staying more on Connors channel. I knew Ciel gave kinda off vibes, just like a "Huh this person seems... a lot." But I thought they were just like, a "kinnie" who took it very seriously. Like being Ciel was their identity online. Not literally irl identity issues, and minor molestation! Wtffff!?

I had "friends" in high school that were basically just friends of opportunity that I liked to chat with at the time, but I didn't really care to stay in touch with any afterwards except this one guy. We agreed to be BFFs for our lives and stay in touch. And to be fair, we still talked and played games for YEARS afterwards, and we attended each other's college graduations and went out partying both times, etc. But as the years went on we spoke less and less. We just got so busy with our very separate lives and there's never enough time in the day. Anyway we hadn't spoke for maybe 10 years and I finally decided to look him up and talk to him again to check up on him. We caught up with each other and man that 10 years was absolutely crazy for him. First off, he said this guy we both knew from high school was in prison for child pornography. I was absolutely shocked. I didn't know Nick very well, he was more of my friend's friend, but he always seemed like such a sweet and personable guy. I was just absolutely shocked at hearing something like that. Then he told me that one of our old english teachers tried to have a relationship with him. It wasn't while he was still a student and underaged, it happened a couple years later when he was around 20, she looked him up and started flirting with him and was being very sexually aggressive toward him. And funny enough, during this whole bit was also when he realized he was actually gay so then he got into a relationship with some other guy we both knew from high school and they're living together now. He also told me that after he realized he was gay, he thinks he used to be in love with me and always wanted to end up with me, which kind of weirded me out. What a wild ride that was. It's absolutely insane how you just never know what people are really like or what they end up doing. Life is crazy man.

I guess I'll go ahead and throw in my two cents, but I, too, found Connor through those old Black Butler videos. The amount of enjoyment I got from Butlers Against Humanity is still vivid in my mind, and it's actually one of the things that inspired me to become a voice actor; the ability to entertain by doing fun and funny character voices was something I wanted to experience for myself. So, despite this being a pretty dark story, I suppose you could consider me a silver lining of sorts.

I remember being really into all of those old Collabs in ninth grade and getting curious about what the other person‘s channel had to offer offer so I checked out CielStar and the most recent video was them getting a tattoo of the black butler contract seal and actually going by the name Ciel irl. Listen I was a cringy ninth grader obsessed with black butler but even to me that was extremely fucking weird and obsessive. Something about their videos made me uncomfortable
