I don't know any Christians who believe in a flat earth. The Israelites knew the earth was round long before science did. They also knew about ocean currents and springs in the oceans an also mountains and valleys in the oceans long before science discovered them . They also knew about the water cycle, how it rains, then the water is drawn back up into the clouds. They also had dietary and hygiene laws that science did not discover until fairly recently. The Bible has always been one step ahead of science. This will trigger a lot of hateful responses, but that's okay. Anyone can look these facts up if they are not afraid of the Bible.

I remember the same experience with church, but I also remember a similar experience with 6th grade science class. I found a logical error with their explanation of the electrons orbiting the nucleus of an atom, something broke down with covalent bonding once you got up to molecules larger than the trivial diatomic. The science just wouldn't work. My teacher acknowledged the issue, and said that the truth was too complicated for 6th graders to understand, so they taught this simplification instead. I had the same experience in 8th grade. The model got a little more complex, but I still poked holes in it, and the teacher assured that the higher level model could give better answers. Same thing happened in high school chemistry, and college gen chem. But when I took a quantum chemistry class in college, I finally was taught the reality, not a model that breaks down. The math was there to support it. When science doesn't make sense, there is an underlying reason, that you don't understand the math and the physics which are required to truly comprehend the phenomena in their entirety. It rewards deeper inquiry and exploration. Religion is the opposite. When you look at the 6rh grade level, it's pretty good, but when you look deeper, the questions lead not to answers, but to more questions. It penalizes inquiry.

When Darwin saw the flower, he predicted that somewhere on the island MUST exist a pollinator with a foot long proboscis. It took a hundred years but we finally found (just recently) a moth on that island that is that flower's pollinator, and guess how long its proboscis is? Science and Math is batting a thousand. It has been correct/on point in every predication. Time and time again, the math says something , and even ppl like Einstein are all like NO WAY can that actually exist in the universe and that he must have made a mistake somewhere and forgot to carry the one, then we find one at the center of every galaxy, and now we even have pictures of them. At this point whats in the Math is a forgone conclusion. The Math says that their are multiple universes--a multiverse, and that their are 11 dimensions. And guess what? My money is on the multiverse and 11 dimensions. There is a long history of us realizing that the math was correct all along. in contrast, religion has been wrong 100% of the time. It has been wrong on all accounts in every instance without fail. Remember "spare the rod, spoil the child", now we know that beating your child is bad/not beneficial. All the "wisdom" contained in the religion was known before hand, usually be the Greeks, or the Persians, or the Romans that was then cooped by religion, RELIGION HAS NO ORIGINAL KNOWLEDGE OR WISDOM that was not known beforehand and has given us nothing that is beneficial or useful. Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun throug the heavens.

A particular group of "scientist" being vastly more prone to break scientific ethics and principles, and them suffering the consequences for it, is a vastly different scenario from them being fired simply for having religious views while not using that to bias their work.

Having read the bible 5 times cover to cover page by page ..The major reason what I find the bible and christians MOST horrific was NOT just its scientific ,historic and many other contradictions BUT is over emphasis on "Forgive your enemy or else God will not forgive you" ..This is one of the biggest abusive things u can ever say to someone who had been raped ,abused brutally ..Imagine if someone were seriously raped with NO fault of her But actually reads bible and tells christians her life horrifying incident .,instead of having even a LITTLE empathy towards what happened to that rape victim and consoling the victim .quoting from the matthew chapter "for if u dont forgive men their tresspssers neither will God forgive yours " And the worst thing is jesus himself using parables in matthew chapter and saying he will allow many demons to torment you if u dont forgive anyone is what a sick mental psycopathic lunatic patient will tell you ..Almost all christians who I met dont even care what u went through and have no compassion of that BUT will immediately quote this "Forgive the abuser and pray for the abuser so that he will be blessed by the lord else hell is waiting for you" ..They were like dont even think about it and forget the abuser as if anything happened ...How worst of a biggest abusive religion christianity is .. Although nothing happened to me of tat and I just quoted a fake incident of such ,,THis was the exact response i received from every christians ..They were harassing me the (fake) victim and NOT telling anything of that rapist ...They were saying "how much god forgave you of all your sins then why cannot u forgive this person of only this one sin?"...If you dont forgive you will go to hell " and were quoting the same matthew chapter 18 and harassing me and saying if i dont obey anything in this matthew chapter 18 I am going to hell ..Christianity by having such a toxic love actually encourages evil people to be more evil ..This was just a fake incident .I could ONLY imagine how will they harass a real victim of a church who had really gone through one such trauma .NO emphasis on the abuser BUT only harassing the abused more and more ..This religion will definetely create mental traumas in people ...Christianity do NOT condemn such evil abuser BUT keeps inflicting and harassing the victim or the abused..Biggest BS religion ..

"That's just semantics." Ten seconds later: "Do you think truth exists in reality?" Dude, that's semantics and no, truth is a concept that refers to facts and the facts exist in reality, but calling it facts is semantics and exists as a concept and all concepts are a result of a series of and interactions between different phenomena that all emerge from actual reality. So it's still based in reality, not in your magic assumptions you add unnecessarily to the conversation. That was the whole point you missed just before you dismissed accurate descriptions of your view of reality as semantics: you add unnecessary, baseless nonsense that has no demonstrable effect on reality outside people being stupid about their bullshit fantasies. So to answer your stupid question: facts exist without you, but truth relies on the existence of someone demonstrating it and calling it truth, no creator required. You assume unnecessarily that more is required than the reality that both of those things demonstrably emerged from. You don't demonstrate that, you demonstrate that everything you assert relies on reality already existing and that a god is not needed at all without assuming it into existence unnecessarily, leading you away from hat is true instead of towards it. Or to put it in other words: had you said nothing, then nothing you believed would've been disproved, but you spoke anyway and everything you said proves how wrong you are.
