people like this get on your nerves for the same reason they get on mine. It's largely because they just need to quickly publish online info regardless of accuracy or even logic. They basically make no sense, but won't let things like that get in their way of uploading some content to appease their followers and sponsors. The internet is all about information, but nobody ever said it had to be constructive or rational

Hahaha, what a joke. I'm 58 and have been playing since 1981 and I've alway been curious about certain gear used by the people I like, like what amp did Hendrix actually use on Voodoo Chile, the live in studio blues one? So many people say it's a Bassman but Eddie Kramer, who was there, says it was a Twin. Sounds like a Tweed Bassman to me but I didn't engineer the record, Kramer did. I'll go with Eddie Kramer. I have a friend who knows Glyn Johns, Glyn says no amps were used on Led Zeppelin IV, he says all the guitar part were done through the board which surprised us both but I have to believe it because Glyn Johns was there. So this chick, who never knew SRV, and more importantly is not a vintage guitar expert, begs the question why should I listen to anything she says about Stevies guitar? Good video.

I can't stand when guitar company's can justify a price of a guitar at 10k, idk care who there using like Stevie or dimebag, unless there wrapping the pickups in gold wire its not worth it plus you can build your own version I'm sure there's enough info out there on stevies setup

Did you see the listing on Reverb I was showing? The guy selling the guitar said he bought 2 of them when they came out. I have seen them sell for 50k so spending 10k back then was actually a good investment. Outside of that, I agree 10k is just not worth it for a stratocaster.

"why does this make me so mad?" Good question. It shouldn't. Your whole video is based upon a misconception about what it means to "date" pickups. There are two different meanings it could have- first to write the date on them. The second is for an expert to give their opinion on the age of the pickups. When someone says pickups have been "dated", they could mean either of those things and you can't tell which unless they clarify. Rene Martinez said stevies pickups were dated as 59. Rene knew that there is no date written on fender pickups so he had to be talking about getting a professional opinion that they were 59's. The experts in the source you use said they appeared to be stock but they were unable to date them. If the solder joints had been untouched then they would have been able to date them as 62-63, but apparently the solder joints weren't untouched. When you say the solder joints were original, you're just reading into what was said. No one said that. What we have is- back ostensibly before the pickups were shielded some expert told stevie that they were 59 pickups. Now the experts can't accurately date them because they have been shielded. They actually said the trickiest part of the replica was the pickups. No one gave an unequivocal opinion that they were stock, they said "basically they were stock" or "They seem to be stock" or "they looked like they were stock". But no one could say definitively that they were 63-63 because pickups of those years would look exactly the same as 59's and the shielding lowered the inductance. Without the shielding, the lower inductance would have been a clue that they are 59's. And they can't rip the shielding off and retest them, they just have to guess. To sum up, they may be 62-63 pickups or they may be 59. no definitive answer has been given. However, consensus is that they are 59 pickups. I'd give stevie and rene the benefit of the doubt because they dealt with the pickups before they were modified.

Not a bad summation, however if they had been changed, the team from Fender that made the replica would have said they had been changed. It's easy to see if pickups are changed, to even the casual observer, so when experts say "the pickups appear to be stock", they are more than likely stock. Rene based his guess on the fact that 1959 was written on the pickups, but 1959 was also written in the guitar body and we know for a fact that the body was from 1963.

well the pickups in those years had the date written on them, but stevies guitar was heavily modified I dont study Stevie's guitar i only dug him in bowies band. one of the real ways he got his sound was the giant strings he used with the amount of cocaine he used he would be breaking strings, when i was a heroin addict i shot alot of coke but didnt do near a much as stevie, but any ways theyre interviews where he mention the size of his strings cause of his bending. anyways i play a 63 an 64 fender jaguar and a 65 mustang the dates are penciled on the bottom plate

"Although pencil dates on the underside of pre-CBS Strat pickups are seen, they are not the norm. A yellow date-stamp was introduced in 1964 and can be seen on the very last black-bottom and first grey-bottom flats. Hand-written dates appeared in 1966, followed by a black date stamp by the late ’60s." Guitar World.

@@livingbreath it always annoys me when random internet loons reply to my comments without even understanding what I said. The strings make a big difference BECAUSE thin strings break all the time when you beat the strings like stevie did.
