Fusing the arrows is one of the mechanics I'm still skeptical about. It doesn't seem like you can pre-craft arrows because the symbol in the UI for selecting arrow types is gone. The one saving grace is that when you open the material menu for fusing it starts in the same position where you were before, but a one button solution to quickly craft the last arrow would go a long way. Opening a menu, even a minimal one like this, for every special arrow you want to fire takes me out of flow of combat. Also, I noticed there are four sorting categories when going through the menu. I hope one of them is favorites or recently used. Would be nice if I only tend to use 4 or 5 materials frequently to not have to scroll through the entire list.

I almost always kept my bone weapons. They were some of the best regular use weapons and when buffed by the radiant set could be some of the best common use weapons in the game. The dragon bone bows had some good headshot power and were good for destroying smaller enemies and the larger dragonbone clubs were fantastic for stun locking larger enemies and knocking enemies off of cliffs. The only useful fire weapon is the great flame blade as the sword and spear didn’t do enough damage and the fire effect does not apply a DoT effect which makes it kind of pointless. Ice and lightning were almost always better to have because of their stun-lock capabilities. I hope in this new game we see a big change in the weapon system that allows you to fuse much more powerful weapons that can stack elemental effects and deal with larger groups of enemies. This should be interesting!

@@vivi1649 Sure, say what you want. I will say the same that I've already say to other persons : GOW Ragnarok, being a game with much less "criptic aura", didn't even teased or hinted at the biggest new gameplay mechanics it had (the spear and Atreus gameplay), Smash Ultimate had hidden as a surprise the entire Dark World and a new antagonist, Dharkon, etc etc. If you compare dates, leaked shit and things like that, this game is obviously not showing a LOT. For example, there are a lot of hints towards Zelda being playable (short hair, marketing talking about "why does she have anew Sheikah Slate and what it could do?" while Link doesn't even have one, the artbook, etc), and big subterranean places are almost 100% confirmed (both from the artbook and the trailers showing a lot of big places under the ground). Aonuma said that they weren't showing a lot of things on purpose What seems kind of stupid for me is how people react to this. Zelda has been an incredible franchise for decades. The game that needed the best marketing (because of how different it was) was botw, and now we know how good that game was, so, why the fuck it does surprise you that with that incredible reputation, FOR ONE TIME, they are trying to make this special and left as many misteries as possible, so that our experience with the game is much better? If you want to say that you are a super skeptical person who won't buy a game until they spoil him a lot of things because you don't give a fuck at how many hints towards big parts of the game we have, just say that, it is oke to be careful with what you buy. But saying that the marketing is bad just because Nintendo could not predict how seemly unloyal and distrustful his fanbase suddenly seems and because you ignore that this game reused a lot of things and still had a 6 YEARS DEVELOPMENT is just straight up stupid. The only thing that I could agree with is that the artbook (or at least, some parts of the artbook, while hidding the ones that are bigger spoilers) should have been released, and not have been just a leak, because I think that the biggest selling point for me was the things I saw inside the artbook. (and yeah, I know that not all the things in the artbooks always end up in the final game, but, tbh, with how many incredible things were there, I would be happy with just 1/3 of all what was there being in the game, that would already make it a incredible sequel)

people's complaints are very valid imo. the divine beasts had so much potential to fit into the open, do whatever you want whenever you want, style of the game without sacrificing any of the depth of traditional dungeons. but they felt underdeveloped and lack luster by the third one, especially on subsequent playthroughs. the shrines also felt like more of the same old shit after 30 or so of them which doesn't even result in enough hearts to pull the master sword. i love breath of the wild with my whole heart, and most of the criticism i can put down to differing preferences or a necessary sacrifice to keep the spirit of the game intact that i can appreciate (i.e. the memories being an extremely disjointed form of story telling). however i think the vast majority of zelda fans, new and old, can agree on some level that shrines and divine beasts left a lot to be desired. the richness of the open world and the soul of the game is the major selling factor of it being one of the greatest games of all time and if tears of the kingdom incorporates a more traditional style for its dungeons, it will only be that much better for it.

🍎 I think it is really interesting that there is a food icon (an apple) on the top left most portion of the screen (above the up arrow of the UI D-Pad icon) where the selection for the runes used to be. In Breath of the Wild, you would hold the up arrow on the directional pad to switch between different runes on the sheikah slate. This may seem like a very small thing, but it might be very convenient! I have thought a lot about this. The quick selections for weapons and shields in botw was really NICE and it would have been great to have also seen that with food. If in this upcoming game we can access food more easily, maybe that will mean Link will be able to quickly eat and heal. I think the UI/UX design was really phenomenal in Breath of the Wild because it limited how often you really had to pause the game to go to your inventory. The quick options were super helpful. The number one thing I went to the inventory for was to eat food, usually during an offensive struggle. A quick option for healing would be a super great addition to see!! I wonder if this will allow for that. Happy Easter everyone!

The viewpoints in this video are absolute copium nonsense. How is the durability issue solved by combining items to make new breakable weapons? Those new combinations still have durability, in fact it makes it worse because now if you want that same weapon again it takes multiple parts to remake it, so its that much worse when it breaks again. All that was said was the weapons would have "increased durability" when combined, sure increased from breaking after 3 hits with a stick.... Ultrahand is a cool concept that is overcomplicated and will be COMPLETELY ignored as soon as players realize they can solve 99% of those same challenges with climbing and a glider. It's a great mechanic, but after building a fan powered car or raft once the novelty will wear off and you'll just go to using far more efficient and boring means that don't take 10x the time. How on earth are you making the jump that improved mobility through ceilings somehow means we'll get better and longer dungeons? Ocarina of time didn't have 1/10th the complexity in mechanics as BoTW and the dungeon design was lightyears ahead. More complex systems does not equal better dungeons, this is absolutely pure 100% speculation with zero backing. Seeing a few big structures far off in the sky doesn't prove anything either. The real issues of BoTW (weapon durability, reptitive collectibles, short "dungeons", and an empty lifeless world) were nowhere near addressed by the initial gameplay demo. Its really silly to see the fanboys rush to grasp at straws in hopes that they won't be disappointed. Players asked for some significant fixes from the empty sandbox that BoTW was, instead all we are getting are new toys to play with in the sand. I hope I am wrong, but the gameplay video doesn't support ANY of the conclusions you jump to here.

Thanks for the feedback! You're right that the player is still not able to use a *specific* weapon without durability constraints- my point was merely that you'll be MUCH less likely to run out of durability in TotK, which makes the system less frustrating than it used to be. Durability is still a thing and not fully removed, as Nintendo loves to come up with their own solutions for things, haha :D You may be right on Ultrahand becoming tedious in the long run, though that also depends on if we're able to "save" and summon builds we made in the past, and the variety of parts available. So far, we've seen everything from balloons and all-terrain-wheels to headlights and massive batteries. It also seems that vehicles will be very finely controllable when using different types of steering wheels. All of this is to say that there still is no conclusive evidence that the system is not going to be viable for a majority of content. Additionally, who cares if you only need to build a hot air balloon three times throughout the game to reach extremely high-up locations? If anything, I'd rather the game incentivizes me to come up with some creative builds a couple of times for some unforgettable experiences, I don't need Ultrahand to be the #1 most effective solution to every problem. (i still laugh when I remember the one time I built a flying ship in BotW using a raft and Octorok Balloons to reach Zora's Domain from the backside) And don't get me started on Ultrahand's usefulness outside of building vehicles- it seems puzzles using objects are integrated into the environment much more naturally, so Nintendo can(and *hopefully/likely* will) make a much wider variety of overworld challenges and puzzles! As for the better and longer dungeons- you are correct, that part is mostly speculation! I merely pointed out different ways that longer dungeons could be much more effectively set up using the new abilities and why it's too early to form the conclusion that "dungeons aren't in the game, it's shit". Nintendo is clearly taking strides in improving on BotW's weaknesses, and if that pattern continues I believe there is a very good *possibility* that longer and better dungeons may return. As for additional complexity not being a necessity to create good dungeons, I wholeheartedly agree! Nintendo could have easily made longer and better dungeons in Breath of the Wild, but they simply chose not to. However, there's a big chance they won't make that mistake again seeing the response they got from the community- we'll have to see in the next few weeks as they release more info and the IGN reviews start pouring in. Ultimately, how satisfied you are with the current info and gameplay we've seen is completely based on your personal experience with Breath of the Wild. I personally absolutely loved the game, and I am certain that I will love Tears of the Kingdom in much the same way. I never found the world of BotW to be an empty, lifeless sandbox(in a way I disliked, at least) the way you've described- so I can't fully argue with you beyond saying "let's agree to disagree". Thank you for sharing your perspective with me, and I truly do hope you'll get to enjoy TotK to your heart's desire

To me the ascent being available underwater seems to just be like a bug, since imagine if you couldn't go underwater while being on the surface of the water. If underwater stuff was available, you should be able to go underwater anytime, not only when you jump off a surface to dive in the water. Imagine accidentally surfacing and being forced to go to land and jump in the water to go underwater again, instead of just being able to dive from the surface of the water. Feels like being underwater is a weird state that link is in and they forgot to disable rune access during it.

I'm kinda hoping there's some level of persistence to the crafted vehicles, it'd be sorta awesome to be able to go around the map and end up constructing a Skyship Dreadnaught for endgame lulz. I love how people are still just making stuff up about the game and then exclaiming "aren't you excited?!!". We have no evidence of underwater exploration, no evidence of long-form dungeons and no, we haven't seen the gameplay loop. Or what are you saying is the gameplay loop according to this video? Kill some reskinned Bokoblins so you can fuse some materials to fight more reskinned Bokoblins? There are things that look cool and have potential, sure, but they have yet shown how this game is going to be anything other than BotW with sky islands, vehicles and new powers. They have barely shown HOW these features change the gameplay. I have seen every inch of Hyrule in BotW. Hell, the game encourages me to. How are these features going to make TotK a fundamentally different experience? Riding down and empty Hyrule field with a cobbled together car doesn't make this a new experience.
@rayart9293
Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely correct, we do not have conclusive evidence of long form dungeons or underwater exploration, I merely pointed out small details that suggest the possibility of them existing in the game- it is absolutely speculation, but not groundless by any means. As for the gameplay loop: the basis for this video is the assumption that the gameplay loop will be very similar to Breath of the Wild, and I explained that Tears of the Kingdom will likely use that winning formula of BotW while improving on the areas that people didn't enjoy as much. If you fundamentally believe you will not enjoy a "Breath of the Wild with improvements and new content", then it is quite unlikely that you will enjoy Tears of the Kingdom, sadly... I never claimed Tears of the Kingdom would offer a fundamentally different experience. That said, I personally believe the game will be able to fulfill the craving for that "magic" that Breath of the Wild had for many people. Seeing both the gameplay we have and the art book leak, it looks like Hyrule this time around has 4 "layers": The overworld(with minor changes), indoor locations within the over world(the passages and caves we've seen on the map, areas that are similar in build to botw's yiga clan hideout or hyrule castle), the DEEP underground that is featured in the art book, and finally the sky islands. Additionally, we've counted 8 new enemy types so far in all the various footage and leaks we have, which means new combat experiences and combinations. I don't know TotK's gameplay loop, but Breath of the Wild's was stellar and they've clearly made strides in improving that which wasn't amazing about it. I'm confident it will turn out amazing, but my expectations may differ from yours and that's okay! :D

I am so excited! I've had my switch for about a year-and-a-half and even though I've enjoyed it immensely and I'll never switch it out (pun intended) with a more powerful game system until they can give me a system where I can put a little screen in front of myself while I sit in the kitchen or take it on the bus. But the whole time I've had it I haven't really been excited about too many games. I have a lot of games but most of them are old ports from old systems and even though they're valuable and I enjoy them like playing that enzio collection on Assassin's Creed I'm constantly aware of the fact that I'm playing old games. Breath of the wild I think it's the only game that I have that was actually made for the switch during the switches generation that isn't an Old Port. I'm replaying breath of the wild after a year of not playing it and I forgot how much I enjoyed it and have been playing it I can't help but think that tears of the Kingdom's going to be amazing

I just want old fashioned dungeons with actual puzzles back. The weakest part of all of BoTW is that the beast dungeons were so underwhelming, and the bosses were all pretty much the same. They can clearly do it too, some of the puzzles inside the shrines were very well done, they just need to expand that and make them into full fledged dungeons. Also, I know it won't happen anymore with the way weapon durability (and now fusion) works, but it would be great to once again have unique equipment back, not just a sword re-skinned 10 times.

It's a game changer because he dressed up for the occasion, put the Lennon style glasses and remained a stone cold badass as he showed the sequel to Botw. On a sidenote however, I yet have to be impressed by the world. I mean haters gonna hate, but there is some truth to the content shown so far legitimizing people's fears that is is just a more polished version of Botw, and not truly an sequel in terms of it offering new large-scale IP. Sure the islands float, sure there will be an underworld. But the basis is the same engine. Cannot say "more of the same" but you also can, if you want. Majora's Mask also had the same issue in 2000 and Aonuma pulled it off in one year back then to release the best story a Zelda ever had with the best tone and mood. The problem being I was 9 back then, didn't know shi* and ended up loving it. I was already grumpy about Botw canceling most of my memories in favor of a new aesthetic that would end up pleasing a majority of new fans that it brought to the series. Did I feel annoyed? Yeah. Would I still prefer a classic Zelda like OOT, MM, TP, SS? Yeah. But is it realistic altogether? Nope, sadly it's just me being nostalgic. I would love to see them handle a separate Zelda content formula for more oldschool gamers such as myself. For instance I would totally dig if they make games in Link's Awakening style or Wind Waker and have them be the new Classic Zelda releases. Make then be the even-odd cycle of releases. For instance they could release a new modern Zelda every 5 years, and release one classic Zelda in the middle of that cycle every 5 years as well. Meaning we would get one Zelda every 2.5 years. My soul would be at peace. Currently with them abandoning the old formula I can't help it but be a bit betrayed by the direction the series took. Sure it makes them money, but the same happened with Final Fantasy. They dropped the World Map and Turn-Based-Combat after Final Fantasy 9. And by the time they released FF13 they were but a shadow of the former company/franchise. FF16 is literally one more example of not sticking to your roots, not pleasing the old fans and losing your identity. So to be very clear and honest with my emotions: yeah BOTW and TOTK might be great products, sell great numbers, make one category of fans very happy. But unless I get my Hyrule Field theme, unless I play the Ocarina, have my character dressed in his green tunic, have actual dungeons and thematic music that isn't inspired by Rachmaninoff, count me out. I need some of the old vibe to reconnect me to this franchise or I will likely drop it on the long run. I will give TOTK a chance but it already for certain will never have that special spot the OG Zelda games have.
@anthonyryan6208
Жыл бұрын
They had no clue if botw was going to be the best selling zelda game. It was a risk. And they were also going back to there roots of the very first zelda game. Also hyrule theme would be annoying if played in a big overworld. There are classic zelda tracks in kakiriko. Rito village. Hyrule castle. Ect ect. The ocarina was used in 2 games. 3 if you count minish cap. I definitely agree that link should've played some instrument in botw. Music is very important in zelda. The dungeons were in botw. 120 mini ones. Divine beasts were 4 bigger ones. They definitely were lackluster though. You can also get the classic tunic from doing all the shrines. So its a reward for playing the game. Its still there.
