Part 2 looks at the historical past on the possible union of North Borneo firstly with Sarawak and then with the British Straits Settlements in the late 1800's to the real discussions and investigations that took place in the 1950's with regards to the formation of a Borneo Bloc of three: Sarawak, Brunei and North Borneo who would de-colonize and look to work together in some form of a federation.
This concept failed for a number of reasons and eventually led to the proposal of some form of a political relationship that would lead to a formal proposal to a merger of Singapore, Sarawak, North Borneo, Brunei and Malaya.
Brunei would decline and exit from such discussions.
From intelligence and diplomatic documents of the period, discover what transpired that ended any hope of self-rule and independence for North Borneo at the end of British colonization and why decisions were made that would shape the future and destiny of North Borneo.
Part 2 discusses:
1-Early discussions on forming of a Borneo Bloc
2-Pressures and realities on why the Borneo Block was destined to fail between Sarawak, Brunei, Singapore and Malaya
Part 3 will be released in mid-April 2024
