Seal Bench are sick, never seen one in a gym before, but there have been plenty of back machines so no complaints from me. For my home gym, I've just got the Primal Strength Seal Bench which attaches into/onto a power Rack, game changer with my cambered swiss bar. Swiss bar is game changer for pressing too! Faz I'm currently pulling all the way back using the gentle tap with bench for standardisation.. still making progress.. should I be reducing the ROM as this is in the shortened position? I noticed you were pulling to align your elbows to your back.. not sure I have enough kinesthetic awareness to do that easily.

@@AbuZak14 yeah what I do is pull within my strongest range. To pull higher I'd have to lighten the load significantly, but then you gotta think you're losing out on stimulation throughout the rest of the range just to get a little more range in the shortened position. That's not worth the trade off. It's like guys who pause in the shortened position on rows, to me that's such a waste of stimulus across the full range.

@@Fazlifts thank you so much for the explanation coach. Until I heard about lengthened partials, I thought anything but full ROM was cheating. Crazy to think it's still less than 2 years into my hypertrophy focused journey. Would full ROM on these help for anything.. thinking for close pulling for my grappling...
@Fazlifts

Yeah sure, I think maybe some machines might work better where the load is more even throughout the range. For example that Hammer Strength row I used first, that's a pretty uniform strength curve so pausing at the chest is no big deal. Or maybe even better on something like a pullover, where it's more appropriate. With free weight rows though, you're just so disadvantaged at the chest it's not worth dropping the weight to enable the pause or full ROM. Like for example if you can barbell row 100kg for 10, to pause at the stomach or pull right the way through you might only be using 80kg and I think that's gonna suck for stimulus across the rest of the range. I generally have specific exercises where I focus on stretch/squeeze stuff and others where I just go ham. So like I'm gonna really stretch and squeeze on cable crossovers but presses I'm gonna SEND it. In general I'm more likely to chad the weight up, than style it out with stretches and squeezes.

your point is 100%right. I was a runner trying to be 170lbs skinny in my 20s. now I am 41, been lifting for 5 years and I weigh 207. I am much more muscular them I was in the past. I have high body fat% but I don't care. plus I don't look like I'm sick or about to die.... That's the prize. plus being more muscular makes anyone healthier

Welcome back Faz! I just got back from a short vacation too. It was a time away from the gym deload for me, so I'm itching to get back in the gym. 💪 I got a body comp assessment about 6 months ago to baseline myself and really needed to bulk. I bulked for 6 months and got another body assessment. I went from 172# @ 12.5% up to 184# @ 16%, which was pretty noticeable increase in size. I had to buy a bunch of new clothes. During the process my perspective on what leanness is changed a bit. With more muscle, you appear leaner than you are. It makes some muscle groups appear bigger than they are (yet still with definition) and the fat that hides better in your torso is less noticeable (unless you're carrying a ton of body fat). It definitely gave me the impression that regardless of my body comp at any point in the year, I can be jacked because there's just enough muscle tissue around. I'm gonna do a mini cut (maybe down to 176-178) and then jump right into another bulk. Even having a bit of a training history, I put on 3# of skeletal muscle mass in 6 months. That makes quite the impact. I can only imagine what it'll be like in 5 years, when I'm 15-20# heavier AND leaner. That's the journey for me 🙃

5:12 absolute stud right there I want to share a recent finding. I have passed the weight that I stop bulking cycle but I kept bulking. I added 1 to 2 hours of additional cardio every week. Including walking, punching the bag or jumping rope. And then it opened up much more appetite for me. My lifts went up and I am finally at 24 ffmi! (I was mid 23 ffmi last year) I think cardio can be a lever to pull to extend the bulk. The heavier I get the more efficient bodyweight based cardio works for me. What do you think based on your experience?
@BuJammy

Same. You can eat more, lift longer... what's not to like? For some reason the idea that bodybuilders should do cardio has become a "secret technique".

I’m coming to the end of my first bulk - it lasted two years. In that time I went from 63kg to 80kg, and if I got down to 73kg I would be leaner than when I started. That’s a little over 10kg of muscle in that time, and it’s allowed me to eat so much more food, and I’ll be able to actually get lean now as a result. Before, I would literally have to get into the 50kg range to be ‘lean’ and I’d have no muscle
